Marvin Harrison Jr has already surpass two of his NFL legend father’s records

Marvin Harrison Jr has arrived.

The fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was limited to just one catch for four yards and no touchdowns in the Arizona Cardinals’ 34-28 Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

But Harrison Jr bounced back in a big way against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, hauling in two touchdown passes in the first quarter from quarterback Kyler Murray.

The former Ohio State Buckeye had 130 yards receiving in an explosive first quarter of Sunday’s game. It was more receiving yards that his NFL legend dad, Marvin Harrison Sr, had in any single game as a rookie in 1996.

Harrison Sr played 13 seasons in the League, much of it alongside Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning on the Indianapolis Colts.

The eight-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro member won Super Bowl XLI with the Colts and held the record for most receptions in a single season (143) until it was broken by Michael Thomas (149) in 2019.

The young Cardinals wideout also surpassed one of his father’s career records on Sunday.

Per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the elder Harrison’s most all-time yardage in a single quarter was 110.

The younger Harrison had 20 more yards than that in the first quarter against the Rams in just his second pro start.

His first NFL score came during the Cardinals’ opening drive against the Rams.

Murray found Harrison on a second-and-8 from LA’s 23-yard line, who hauled the ball in at the back of the end zone with Rams cornerback Tre’Davious White draped all over him.

He scored his second TD of the quarter two minutes and 12 seconds later.

Murray found a wide-open Harrison downfield and the young playmaker put on the afterburners to run in for a 60-yard touchdown after extending incredibly into the end zone from the four-yard line.

He was targeted five times in the opening quarter and finished with four catches for 130 yards and two TDs.

“Bros gonna be a problem in the NFL,” one fan posted on X.

“He’s going to be a stud in the NFL,” added another.

“He is going to cook in the NFL,” a third wrote.

It comes after Murray said this week that it wasn’t his job to force targets to Harrison after the rookie was a complete non-factor in the Week 1 loss to the Bills.

“As a quarterback, obviously, you’re going through your reads,” Murray said, per Craig Morgan of PHNX.

“Sometimes the ball goes to him, but that’s not my job.

“I have a sense and a feel for guys when they don’t get the ball and when they are getting the ball, but I leave that up to Drew. He tells me, ‘Don’t worry about that type of stuff. Just keep playing your game and get the ball to where the ball is supposed to go.'”

The Cardinals snapped a nine-game home losing streak to the Rams on Sunday.

They claimed an impressive 41-10 victory to move to 1-1 for the season over their division rivals.

Murray was 17 for 21 passing for 266 yards and three TDs with a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Harrison Jr finished with 8 targets and four catches for 130 yards receiving and two scores.
