PSG boss Pochettino has been linked with a return to the Premier League as Man Utd explore their options for a successor to former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford
As Manchester United search for a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there remains uncertainty over the likelihood of a long-term appointment being made.
The official line from the club is that they are pursuing an interim appointment until the end of the season, in a move which some see as bridging the gap between caretaker Michael Carrick and a long-term hire next summer.
This could yet change, of course, and one factor which could affect the club’s decision is the availability of one of their preferred candidates sooner rather than later.
Mauricio Pochettino is a man to whom this could apply, and reports from France indicate the former Tottenham Hotspur manager is unlikely to remain at Paris Saint-Germain beyond this season.

While Pochettino extended his initial 18-month PSG contract for a further year over the summer, things haven’t been going perfectly for the Argentine.
According to Le Parisien (via Sport Witness ), Pochettino feels ‘cramped’ at the club where he spent more than two years as a player.
Describing the current situation as ”the beginning of the crisis,’ the French publication suggests a ‘divorce’ between club and manager could even happen before the end of the current campaign.
PSG are top of Ligue 1, but Le Parisien suggests the manager is frustrated by an inability to impose his own principles on the club.
This represents a stark contrast to his time in north London, where he was given time to build a Tottenham team in his own image rather than attempting to find room for superstars Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi while retaining a balanced side.
Pochettino was unable to lead PSG to Ligue 1 glory last term, though he looks set to right that wrong this time around if he sees out the season with Saturday’s victory over Nantes seeing the team end the weekend 11 points clear at the top.
However, with reports of players expecting Zinedine Zidane to take over at the French club, it remains to be seen whether the current boss sees out the season.

United begin their search for a new manager with the team in danger of missing out on Champions League football next season.
The next league game comes against Chelsea, ensuring the gap could widen further if United are beaten at Stamford Bridge.
Michael Carrick has been placed in caretaker charge until United find a suitable candidate to take the reins for the remainder of the campaign, with the clash against Villarreal his first match in the hotseat.
