Mauricio Pochettino tipped to take PSG job amid Man Utd and Real Madrid links

Maurcio Pochettino has “really good ties with PSG” and would find the prospect of managing them “very attractive”, according to reports.

The news will come as a blow to Manchester United and Real Madrid, both of whom have been heavily linked with the former Tottenham boss over the last year.

Pochettino has been out of work since he was sacked by Spurs in November 2019 but said last month he was “ready to go again” in a new role.

During his playing days as a centre-back, Pochettino spent two-and-a-half seasons with PSG, making 95 appearances for the club and wearing the armband in the 2002/03 season.

Pochettino would reportedly find the prospect of a return to PSG “very attractive”

And French football expert Julien Laurens believes a return to Parc des Princes may be the most appealing option available for the Argentine.

“Pochettino has been very clever in the way that he’s waiting,” Laurens told talkSPORT . “He could have gone back to management very early on but he waited. He really wanted to get the right project and the right club.

“Real Madrid would be interesting for him, we know how close he is to Florentino Perez.

“But he has really good ties with PSG, he was their player, their captain, and he loves Paris as a city and a football club. That could be very interesting, I think it’s a very attractive club for any manager.

“I think Manchester United is still in the back of his mind, because maybe Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer has lasted longer than all of us expected, but certainly he [Pochettino] would be high on their list.”

Current PSG boss Thomas Tuchel’s deal with the Ligue 1 giants expires next summer, while Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is under huge pressure in the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos are without a win in three La Liga games and their chances of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages are in jeopardy.
