Paul Merson has made his predictions for each of Wednesday and Thursday’s Premier League fixtures including the Merseyside derby and Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United
The Highbury legend, 53, anticipates the Gunners’ tepid form on the road will continue during their trip to Old Trafford and he claims there is little to separate them from United.
Conversely, Merson can only see one winner in the Merseyside derby and predicted a resounding victory for Liverpool over their local rivals.
The former England playmaker also cast his eye over the rest of Wednesday and Thursday’s fixtures as the busy festive schedule begins to ramp up.

The showpiece game on Wednesday is undoubtedly the derby at Goodison Park, where Merson believes Liverpool will claim the bragging rights with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
“I can honestly see only one winner here. If you’re an Everton fan, you’re probably hoping that this game doesn’t get out of hand,” Merson told Sportskeeda .
“There’s only one way Everton can play this game – they’ll put 11 men behind the ball and play on the counter.”
He added: “Liverpool have far too much quality for Everton and should be able to win this Premier League match.”
Turning his attention to Thursday’s blockbuster encounter, Merson could not pick between United – who will once again be managed by caretaker Michael Carrick – and Arsenal, predicting a 1-1 stalemate.
“Arsenal are back to beating the teams they should beat and got a good result against Newcastle,” the former Gunners ace said.
“They struggled against Brighton and Liverpool in the Premier League and haven’t been very good away from home.”

“They aren’t very good defensively, however, and can’t afford to be too open against Arsenal. I reckon both teams would be pretty happy with a draw this week.”
Elsewhere, Merson predicted victories for Chelsea and City, who are separated by just one point at the table’s summit with 13 games played.
