Liverpool boss Klopp labels Salah ‘best in the world’

Mohamed Salah’s astonishing dedication to improving his game has been laid bare by Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The Liverpool forward is regarded by some as the best player in the world at present after racking up 15 goals and five assists in 12 games this season.

Arguably the most spectacular of these goals came during a thumping 5-0 victory over Watford earlier this month after he weaved through numerous Watford defenders with dazzling footwork and finished beyond Foster.

Salah also set up teammate Sadio Mane to score the opener with a delightful outside-of-the-boot through-ball.

It marked the latest in a string of world-class Premier League performances by the Egyptian which he has since extended, but he did not rest on his laurels as the full-time whistle blew at Vicarage Road.

Salah was seen in conversation with Foster immediately after the match – and the Hornets shot-stopper has opened up on their exchange.

It appears the Reds talisman was looking to gain the upper hand in future penalties by discovering which direction Foster would have dived if a spot kick had been awarded.

Salah has an excellent record from 12 yards for Liverpool but he missed his previous penalty, against AC Milan in the Champions League.

Eager to make amends, Salah consulted Foster and left the former England international stunned by his dedication in the process.

“So they’ve just won the game 5-0. Mo Salah, I think he scored one goal in the game,” Foster told The Cycling GK YouTube channel .

“But he came up to me at full-time and he’s got his hand over his mouth a little bit because he didn’t want the cameras to catch it.

“He’s come up and gone: ‘Ben, Ben’. I’ve gone: ‘Okay, yeah? You alright?’

“And he’s gone: ‘If I’d have got a penalty, which way would you have dived?’

“Now, as soon as he said that, I thought: ‘Oh, you clever, clever boy’, because we do our research.

“All the goalkeepers out there do their research on strikers and we’ll try and find out where their last four, five or 10 penalties might have gone, for example, and Mo Salah’s last five penalties he put to the goalkeeper’s right.

“So I’ve looked at him and I’ve gone: ‘Ah okay. I’d have gone to my right. I’d have dived to my right because you put your last five penalties to the right’.

Ben Foster opened up on his interaction with Mohamed Salah after the match

“A big smile came up on his face, a big grin, and he went: ‘Yeah, thank you. I need to know, I need to know’.

“So, not content with just winning the game 5-0 and scoring an unbelievable goal and being man of the match, he has to know the tiny little details. In his next game, if he gets that penalty, which way he should put it.

“That’s why Mo Salah, he’s at the top, guys. He is the top.”
