Chelsea have already smashed their transfer record to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, but would still like another star or two before the window closes
Chelsea’s end to the transfer window looks set to be one of the most exciting in the Premier League, with a host of deals still in the offing.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have got their season off to the perfect start, with two wins from two, five goals scored and none conceded.
But despite their faultless start, Tuchel is still keen to make more improvements to a side which ended last season as the champions of Europe.
As well as potential arrivals, there will also be departures, with Kurt Zouma’s move to West Ham imminent.
With that in mind, here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours:
Moriba deal ‘agreed’
Barcelona wonderkid Ilaix Moriba has reportedly reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with Chelsea over personal terms, with just the fee left to be negotiated.
The Blaugrana have been left in a difficult spot with Moriba, who made his La Liga debut earlier this year.
Moriba is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects to have graduated from the La Masia academy in recent years, but has just one year remaining on his deal and is seemingly unwilling to extend that further.
The 18-year-old has been training with the development sides at Barcelona and has been informed he will not be involved with the senior side until a new deal is agreed.
Reports in Spain claimed the player was in London over the weekend and Barca Universal have now suggested that personal terms have been agreed with the Blues.
Chelsea see Kounde progress
With Zouma’s move to West Ham all but confirmed, Chelsea are now set to accelerate plans to sign Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
The Frenchman has been Tuchel’s top defensive target all summer, but has been forced to wait until Zouma’s move was confirmed.
According to Sky Sports there is a real confidence that a £43m deal can be agreed before next week’s deadline, with talks progressing well.
According to reports, personal terms have been agreed since the start of the summer, meaning that the fee is the final part of the arrangement.
Saul talks resume
Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has been one of the names most often linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Spanish midfielder is available to leave, despite him starting Diego Simeone’s side’s LaLiga opener.
Manchester United are another team in the race, but Chelsea are said to be leading the battle having held talks with the player.
The Telegraph report that talks are ongoing between the two clubs, with the Blues looking for a deal similar to the one that saw Mateo Kovacic sign for the club in 2018.
Kovacic initially signed on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, with an obligation to make that permanent the following summer.
Chelsea would like the same arrangement with Real’s cross-city rivals and hope to strike a deal before next week’s deadline.
