Moyes: Bielsa naming his Leeds XI early won’t help West Ham

avid Moyes was handed an early Christmas present this week when Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa named his starting XI for the visit of West Ham more than 48 hours before kick-off – but the Scot says it won’t make his job any easier.

The eccentric Argentine took the rather unusual step – in the Premier League, at least – of revealing his starting line up for Friday night’s game against Moyes’ side during his Wednesday press conference.

While most opposing managers would greatly accept such a gesture, Moyes was in no mood to return the favour and will be keeping his cards closer to his chest.

Furthermore, the West Ham boss – who also questioned whether it could well be a bluff by his counterpart at Elland Road – doesn’t believe it will give him too much of an advantage.

Moyes said: “I don’t think it is anything outrageous. We see it in other sports, we see it in rugby when they name their teams before the play, it doesn’t happen with us for different reasons.

“Does it make it any easier? I don’t think so.

“They are a good team Leeds and we know what we are going to expect but overall, we will keep our team until when we want to announce it and prepare our players for the game.

“It could be a bluff, it might not be his team. It could be something else so who is to know? It could be very clever.”
