Ole Gunnar Solskjaer details when Man Utd fans can expect to see Hannibal Mejbri

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri could be in line for a senior debut after impressing in first team training.

The highly-rated 18-year-old has starred at youth level and the United boss has been pleased with what he has seen from the player.

“Yes, definitely. He was unlucky getting injured, six weeks ago, when he was supposed to come up [to train] with us.” Solskjaer told the United website.

“Now he’s got over the injury and joined in, and he’s done well, the boy.”

French midfielder Mejbri joined the club from Monaco in 2019 and has primarily featured in the under 18 and under 23 teams.

Playing for the latter this season, the player has three goals and five assists in 15 matches in Premier League 2 leading to Solskajer’s decision to promote him.

However, an arm injury in February put him out of action and delayed his link up with the senior squad.

Following his recovery, Solskajer has finally been able to observe Mejbri up close and hopes to be able to include him in a matchday squad sooner rather than later.

“Of course, you drip-feed them in and you don’t expect them to set the world alight,” he added. “But you want to see them in this environment and he’s looked comfortable and confident.

“Hopefully, we can give him that extra motivation and inspiration to show even more of his talent and why not?”

Solskjaer is hoping to continue the club’s reputation of bringing through young players and has already given first team opportunities to Shola Shoretire, 17 and Amad Diallo, 18.

Diallo repaid his manager’s faith with a goal in the Europa League last 16 tie against Milan, scoring an impressive header in the 1-1 first leg draw.
