Facundo Pellistri is yet to make his competitive debut for Manchester United, but the Uruguayan will be forced to wait even longer after being sent out on loan once more
Varane deal ‘a sign of Man Utd’s aims’
Facundo Pellistri has been denied his Manchester United wish after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent the youngster out on loan once more.
The teenager has re-joined Alaves on a season-long loan, after spending the second half of the previous campaign at the La Liga outfit.
Pellistri joined United from Uruguayan club Penarol last October in a move worth £9million, but the youngster is yet to make his competitive debut for the Red Devils.
The 19-year-old featured for United during their recent 2-1 pre-season friendly victory over Derby County, where Pellistri scored the game’s decisive goal.
The Uruguayan had been linked with a move away from Manchester all summer, but speaking after the Derby game, Pellistri expressed his desire to stay and fight for a place in the first team.
“As you said, I went on loan to Alaves, I felt good, now I’m here trying my best and always pushing forward to be the best,” he said.
“I would like to stay here but I’m still working hard, improving and will continue working.”
Red Devils boss Solskjaer was also impressed with the youngster’s performance during the pre-season match.
“Very good goal. Good pass, then his first touch sets him up,” Solskjaer said.
“Then he’s very good at dribbling so going past the keeper wasn’t a problem. Composed. I thought he was bright when he came on.
“I think he showed what he is because he’s a difficult player to play against. One against one he can go past people so very pleased with him.”
But Pellistri’s performance was seemingly not enough to convince the United manager he was ready for more first team action.

“I can see a loan deal for him, there’s been loads of interest and for his best interests a loan would be what we look for,” Solskjaer added.
Pellistri made 12 La Liga appearances for Alaves during his first loan spell, helping them finish 16th – four points above the relegation zone.
The 19-year-old made his professional debut in August 2019 aged 17, in a 2-2 draw against Defensor Sporting.
Pellistri could still have a future at the club however, with the Uruguayan being under contract in Manchester until 2025.
The club posted a message on its official website following Pellistri’s move which reads: “Everybody at United wishes Facundo all the best this season and we will be tracking his progress closely.”
The news comes after fellow youth products Reece Devine, Tahith Chong and Di’Shon Bernard were also sent out on loan to gain invaluable experience.
Devine joined Scottish side St. Johnstone, while Chong and Bernard moved to Birmingham and Hull respectively.
