Jurgen Klopp’s squad still requires a replacement for the departed Georginio Wijnaldum, while reinforcements would also be welcome in attack.
The Reds have so far only brought in defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, though they have extended the contracts of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Allisson.
Following a disappointing title defence last season, Klopp will be looking to step up the Reds’ business as he looks to retake the crown.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool transfer news…
Shaqiri close to exit wish
Xherdan Shaqiri is reportedly edging closer to seeing his wish for a departure from Liverpool this summer.
The Switzerland international has struggled to convince Reds boss Jurgen Klopp that he can be a regular option in attack.
When he signed from Stoke City, it appeared that he could be the perfect back-up to Liverpool’s fearsome front three.
But he has made just 21 Premier League appearances over the past two seasons, triggering his wish for an exit from Anfield.
It is a wish that looks ever more likely to be granted, with Corriere Dello Sport reporting that he has been given the “green light” for a move after meeting with Liverpool officials.
Lazio are one of the sides interested in him, with the Reds ready to sell him at “almost zero cost”, something that has attracted the cash-poor Serie A club.
Coutinho interest continues

Liverpool’s interest in Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho is continuing, as the La Liga club desperately seek to raise funds.
Coutinho departed Anfield for the Nou Camp more than three years ago, but his dream move has not worked out as hoped.
A succession of injury issues has severely limited his game time, with the Brazilian making just 12 appearances in the Spanish top flight last term.
The midfielder is set to be handed an escape route though, with Barca attempting to relieve their financial issues.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Reds are one of the sides interested in Coutinho, with Barca “open” to either a loan or permanent transfer.
It is stated that it will take a major departure for Liverpool to consider making a move, but if that happens, the 29-year-old is “on their radar”.
Reds keen on Barella

Liverpool appear to have identified their preferred replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen on Nicolo Barella.
Wijnaldum left Anfield at the end of last season after failing to agree a new contract, leaving a major hole in Klopp’s squad.
It is a hole that is yet to be plugged, despite the new Premier League season being less than two weeks away.
But the Reds could soon sign their Wijnaldum replacement, with Calciomercato reporting that Klopp is lining up a move for Barella.
The 24-year-old has become a key part of Inter’s midfield after joining from Cagliari in 2019, helping them to win the Serie A title last term.
The report does claim though that Liverpool are facing a challenge from Manchester United for the midfielder.
