Pickford freaks out after Newcastle goal vs Everton as he watches on from stands

Jordan Pickford was caught blowing his top following Newcastle’s goal against Everton on Sunday as he watched on from the stands.

The England international has had a tough start to the season after some huge errors between the sticks.

In Everton’s 4-2 win over Brighton, the 26-year-old was at fault for both goals but fortunately, the club’s frontmen bailed them out.

But it appeared enough to convince Carlo Ancelotti to take the keeper out of the firing line.

As a former Sunderland player and devout Mackem, Pickford’s emotional connection to the club has seen him take his game to an emotional level against Newcastle – their arch-rivals.

It happened last season when the Magpies came back from two goals down to claim a 3-2 victory over Everton, with both coming from Pickford errors.

And even in the stands, the shot-stopper could not stop himself getting irate after Callum Wilson’s second-half penalty.

A quick flash from the cameras showed Pickford roar out in agony and hit the air.

Wilson would go on to add a second before a late Dominic Calvert-Lewin strike halved Newcastle’s lead.

But it was not enough to prevent Ancelotti’s men from back-to-back defeats.

And the Italian admitted Pickford would be back in goal against Manchester United this weekend and insisted he has always rotated his keepers.

It came after praising Robin Olsen, who arrived from Roma on a season-long loan to put pressure on the No. 1 spot.

“He played well and I can say to you he’s going to play again – but not against United,” Ancelotti said.

Since the beginning of the 2019-20 season, no keeper has made more errors than Pickford which have directly led to a goal.

“In my career, I am used to rotating the goalkeepers. It happened at Real Madrid, it happened also at Napoli. It will not be the last time, of course.”

“This doesn’t mean that we don’t have trust in Jordan – we have a lot of trust in Jordan,” added Ancelotti. “There’s no doubt about this.”
