Arsenal take on Tottenham this weekend in the North London Derby of the season, and have the chance to put a dent in Spurs’ Premier League title charge.
The Gunners have struggled recently, having lost two of their last three league games.
Their last league victory came over Manchester United on November 1st.
Mikel Arteta has also faced criticism over Arsenal’s style of play this season, with some critics claiming the team is too negative, and offering little in attack.
Aubameyang’s form since signing his bumper new contract in the summer highlights how blunt the Gunners have been.
The club captain has scored only two goals in 10 Premier League games so far this season.
But the Gabonese ace believes he and his teammates have the ability to cause Tottenham problems this weekend, as he explained in his matchday programme notes for Arsenal’s Thursday night Europa League tie against Rapid Vienna.
And Aubameyang declared that a big result in the derby could kick-start their season and start an upturn in form.
“I can’t wait for the derby on Sunday,” the Arsenal star wrote.
“I think this is the game that we have to make into a turning point for us this season.
“There’s nothing better than this game to give you that opportunity to turn things around.
“We have to understand that if we can win this game then everyone will change their mindset. A big result in the derby can really lift the players, the fans – everyone.
“We know it will be a tough game, they are playing well at the moment to tell the truth but we have to take care of our game, how we want to play the game, and make it all about us.
“We are waiting for this game – we need to give everything to get the win and change our situation.”
