Player ratings from Liverpool’s win against Tottenham

Liverpool went top of the Premier League as Roberto Firmino headed a last-gasp winner against Tottenham.

The Brazilian scored from a late corner to break Spurs hearts as the Reds leapfrogged their opponents to reach the summit of the top flight.

Heung-min Son’s equaliser looked like it had sealed a point as the South Korean cancelled out Mohamed Salah’s deflected opener.

Liverpool made early pressure count through the Egyptian marksman whose strike looped off Toby Alderweireld and over Hugo Lloris into the back of the net.

But Tottenham struck on the counter as Son sprung the offside trap to cleverly beat Alisson at his near post.

Both sides went close to winning it after the break with Steven Bergwijn and Sadio Mane each striking the woodwork before Firmino found the net.

Here’s how the players rated on Merseyside…

Liverpool

Alisson 6

The quieter of the two keepers, but completely flat footed by Son’s finish.

Alexander-Arnold 6

Got forward, worked hard to defend will be haunted by a Son nutmeg.

R Williams 7

So, Jose was wrong about Matip playing… Williams has a big future.

Fabinho 7

Solid, reliable presence. Not bad when he’s still just filling in.

Robertson 8

MotM. Dangerous attacking outlet and his late corner set up the winner.

Power and energy. drove Liverpool forward. So reliable, impressive again.

Getting better with every game, looks a fabulous all energy midfielder.

Salah’s deflected strike had put Liverpool ahead

Got frustrated with Højbjerg nibbling at his heels. Given little space.

Salah 7

You just cannot stop him as he scored again. Deadly and dangerous.

Firmino 7

What a finish, the last gasp hero. Terrific display.

Mané 7

Unlucky not to score, always seemed to find Lloris with his shooting.

Good early saves to deny Firmino and Salah, also defied Mane. Impressive.

Unlucky when Salah’s shot span off him and Dier and into the net.

Lucky to escape appeal for handball. Given up trying to understand handball law.

Got the nod over Reguilon for his defensive abilities. Solid if unspectacular.

Surprise to see him play wide right but played well. His physicality upset Liverpool.

Booked. Patrols midfield so diligently, has been an outstanding signing.

Lo Celso 6

Brilliant run and assist for Son’s equaliser, provided energy and dynamism.

Jose always picks him for the big games… wasted two glorious chances.

If there was a Player of the Year vote right now, he’d be up there.

Excellent as he drops deep, links play, works hard but should have scored.
