Premier League LIVE! Villa v West Ham, Liverpool latest; Man City win

fter a night of high drama in the Premier League on Tuesday, Wednesday should offer plenty more action up and down the table.

Tuesday’s action offered plenty of goals and VAR controversy, with Wolves battling back to beat nine-man Arsenal – who had David Luiz and Bernd Leno sent off on a miserable night at Molineux. The Gunners are appealing Luiz’s red card, though the immediate result left Mikel Arteta’s side in 10th place.

Sheffield United beat fellow strugglers West Brom 2-1 to spark hopes of an unlikely relegation escape act, while Crystal Palace won 2-1 at Newcastle – but the tie of the evening came at Old Trafford as Manchester United equalled a League record with a 9-0 drubbing of nine-man Southampton.

Tonight’s five games have a lot to live up to after that excitement, but leaders Man City went clear of rivals United as they beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor. Fulham lost 2-0 at home to Leicester City, Everton travel to Leeds United, champions Liverpool look to continue their fine form with an Anfield clash against Brighton, while West Ham will be aiming to return to winning ways in what could be a lively encounter at Aston Villa.

Liverpool 0-0 Brighton

Neal Maupay gets in behind and takes an age over his shot but when it is blocked it loops up nicely for Dan Burn, but the big man snatches at it and slices over the bar.

Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham

22 mins: Villa’s best chance. Matty Cash whips in a great cross to the far post where Watkins meets it free but he can’t keep his header down as he tries to send it back towards the far co

Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham

21 mins: He looks full of confidence, does Jesse Lingard. His latest act is to demand a quick, short free-kick and then let fly but his miscued strike is easily blocked.

Liverpool 0-0 Brighton

16 mins: Up at Anfield, it’s been a pretty cagey opening, that Salah chance the only clear-cut one so far.

Jack Rosser is at Villa Park

Tight start here in the midlands but West Ham maybe just edging it. Lingard has looked lively so far and is looking to get the Hammers moving from midfield whenever he can.

Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham

11 mins: I must say I was a little surprised to see Jesse Lingard thrown straight in to the starting line-up tonight but he’s made a bright start here. Encouraging signs.

Aston Villa 0-0 West Ham

6 mins: An early injury concern for the hosts as Matty Cash went down needing a bit of treatement. He’s back up now though and looks to be moving okay.

Liverpool 0-0 Brighton

3 mins: Mo Salah looks sharp – perhaps too sharp. He kills a pass over the top and takes it early in one swift motion but lifts it too high as he tries to find the far corner. Had he taken his time he would’ve had a simpler finish.

Jack Rosser is at Villa Park

So in the end it’s a back four for West Ham but with Ryan Fredericks playing on the right week. Moyes taking no chances with Jack Grealish down that flank. Jesse Lingard’s introduction means Said Benrahma is shifted out to the left.

We are underway at Villa Park and at Anfield…
