Premier League table: Liverpool draw hands Man Utd boost

iverpool wrapped up Premier League football in 2020 by extending their lead at the top of the table to three points as they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at Newcastle on Wednesday.

Following the postponement of Tottenham vs Fulham earlier in the day, Liverpool and Newcastle’s stalemate ensures the champions are clear at the top heading into 2021 – but Manchester United are just three points behind with a game in hand.

Chelsea were held to a frustrating draw by in-form Aston Villa on Monday night as their disappointing recent run continued at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Earlier that day, Crystal Palace were denied a valuable home victory against high-flying Leicester after Harvey Barnes struck late to cancel out Wilfried Zaha’s stunning volley at Selhurst Park.

On Tuesday, Arsenal made it back-to-back wins with victory over Brighton, while Burnley earned a crucial win over relegation rivals Sheffield United. 

West Ham drew 0-0 away at Southampton after their home draw with Brighton, while Sam Allardyce’s West Brom – lifted after claiming an unlikely point at Liverpool on Sunday – were hammered 5-0 by Leeds at The Hawthorns.
