Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp reaction

Liverpool’s phenomenal start to the season continued on Sunday, with a comprehensive victory away to Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp’s team were four goals to the good by half-time, before Mohamed Salah completed a hat-trick after the break and the Reds’ defence kept their opponents at bay before and after Paul Pogba’s red card.

Next up for Klopp’s men is another away game, this time against Championship opposition, with Preston North End hosting Liverpool in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The Lilywhites are hovering six points above the relegation zone, in 19th place, but have made it this far in the competition after victories over Mansfield Town, Morecambe and Cheltenham Town.

Liverpool were eliminated at this stage of the competition last season, losing a penalty shoot-out against Arsenal after a goalless draw at Anfield.

Liverpool are expected to be without Naby Keita, who left the field on a stretcher at Old Trafford, but Klopp may opt to ring the changes anyway.

The Reds gave minutes to some fringe players in the third round, and the likes of Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi could feature again.

Harvey Elliott and Thiago Alcantara remain out injured, while James Milner joined them on the treatment table after limping off against Man Utd.

Adrian sat on the bench at Old Trafford, with Caoimhin Keller ruled out through illness, and the Spaniard could be in line for his first appearance of the season if Alisson is given a rest.
