Transfer update: Klopp ‘wants three players’ as PSG eye Pogba

Liverpool have long been linked with PSG star Kylian Mbappe, who is now into the final 12 months of his deal in Paris.

Thus far no extension has been agreed and the Parisians are set to add Lionel Messi, casting further doubt over the Frenchman’s future.

The Reds have been linked with an attacking reshuffle despite the man in their frontline, although their summer business has been quiet thus far.

Ibrahima Konate arrived for over £30m from RB Leipzig, but that is the only marquee signing made by Jurgen Klopp thus far.

Liverpool are aiming to regain their Premier League title but are set to go into the new campaign with, largely, the same squad as last year.

Here are the latest transfer rumours from Anfield.

PSG’s Mbappe confidence

PSG remain confident of keeping Kylian Mbappe once the signing of Lionel Messi is finalised, reports Goal

Real Madrid and Liverpool continue to wait in the wings for the France star, who has 12 months left to run on his deal.

Mbappe is yet to reach an agreement with the French champions over an extension as he continues to be linked with a move elsewhere.

The player himself has previously talked fondly about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

Messi’s signing is likely to raise FFP questions but PSG believe they can still keep the World Cup winner.

Ox on Saints radar

Southampton are keen on bringing Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back to the south coast on loan this summer.

TalkSPORT reports that that Saints have made enquires about his availability.

The 27-year-old, who’s deal at Anfield runs out in 2023, began his career with the Saints before he moved to Arsenal.

Liverpool could be open to offers for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who only played 13 Premier League games last season having struggled with injuries for some time.

The Reds have seen Gini Wijnaldum leave for PSG but remain well stocked in midfield.

Wilson’s “gutted” admission

Former Red Harry Wilson admits he is a “bit gutted” he wasn’t given a chance to prove his worth an Anfield having moved to Fulham.

The midfield secured a £12m switch to the Cottagers and scored on his debut.

He was sent out on loan on several occasions without getting much of a run at Liverpool and felt he perhaps deserved more minutes.

“Obviously from my point of view I feel a little disappointed I didn’t get more opportunities. And yeah, there were players around who maybe got a few more than I did,” he told Goal.

“I go back to that Derby season [2018/19]. When I came back, I had maybe 50 games under my belt at a good level. That was the time for me.

“And looking back, yeah, I am a bit gutted that I wasn’t given maybe half a season at least to prove I deserved to be part of that group.”
