Raducanu working with former British No1 Jeremy Bates at Indian Wells

mma Raducanu appears to be working with former British No1 Jeremy Bates as she steps up her search for a new coach for next season.

The British No1 was guideed by Andy Murray’s father-in-law, Nigel Sears, in her run to the fourth round at Wimbledon and then returned to former coach Andrew Richardson in her remarkable US Open title triumph in only her second Grand Slam.

In the aftermath of that title, it was revealed she had parted company with Richardson with a new coach expected to be announced at the end of the year to take her into 2022.

Raducanu is this week playing her first tournament since the US Open in the main draw of Indian Wells.

On her arrival at the event – one of the biggest tournaments on the tour outside the Grand Slams – she was filmed practising with Bates.

Bates could be an option as her long-term coach although it is likely he is only a stop gap having been on hand at the event with Katie Boulter and Raducanu in his role as a national coach at the Lawn Tennis Association.

Raducanu will find out her fate in the main draw for Indian Wells on Tuesday where she will be hoping to continue her meteoric rise.

The impact of her success in New York last month has already been felt with the Government last week announcing plans to inject £30million into reviving thousands of public tennis courts across the UK. That would see 4,500 courts get a facelift at some 1,500 venues.
