Real Madrid may be without key first team players for their Champions League fixture against Inter Milan on Wednesday.
It’s a must-win clash for Zinedine Zidane whose side currently sit in third in Group B.
Halfway through the group stages, Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk both sit ahead of Real Madrid with Inter Milan, somewhat surprisingly, in fourth.
Antonio Conte’s side will be desperate for a win, knowing that a loss will see any hopes of automatic qualification become virtually non-existant.
However, if Real Madrid were to lose it puts them in a tricky position with only two games left to gain entry into the last-16.
Zidane will have a tough job, though, with a number of his key players potentially missing.
Captain Sergio Ramos could still be out after sustaining an injury while playing for Spain last week and Karim Benzema missed Saturday’s Villarreal game with a knock. The striker will face a late fitness test.
Back up striker Luka Jovic is also out after testing positive for Covid-19.
In more positive news, Eden Hazard, Nacho Fernandez and Dani Carvajal returned from positive Covid tests and injuries to play against Villarreal.
Casemiro and Eder Militao have also recovered from the Coronavirus but there are doubts over whether both will be match fit in time for Wednesday.
Any concerns over Raphael Varane, though, were allayed. The centre-back hurt his shoulder while on international duty with France but started alongside Nacho at the weekend.
