Rice happy and committed to West Ham amid future uncertainty

eclan Rice says he has no concerns over his future and that he is entirely focused on West Ham after turning down two contract offers over the summer.

The England international is wanted by a raft of top Premier League clubs and rejected the chance to extend his current deal at the London Stadium.

West Ham valued their star man at £100million, with manager David Moyes having said in the past it would even take more than that to sanction a sale.

There has been no suggestion that Rice has pushed for a move but the academy graduate is keen to test himself at the highest level domestically having shone for England over the summer.

Rice – who is preparing to face Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday – has made a fine start to the season and said fans would have noticed a drop off in form if he was distracted.

Asked whether he could be convinced that his long-term future lies at West Ham, Rice said: “Everyone knows how I feel about West Ham and how I feel about playing under the manager and what it’s like playing with the group of players I’m playing with.

“I feel you can see in my performances, nothing’s up, nothing’s concerning me.

“I’m playing with a smile on my face, I’m going out there, I’m leading the team. I think you could see a difference if I wasn’t going out there and giving 100 per cent but every time I’m putting on the shirt – I’ve got the armband on at the moment – my only objective is to go out there and give everything for the club and get three points.

“With tomorrow night on the horizon, the only thought on my mind is to go out there and put on a performance for the fans and get the win.”

Moyes hailed Rice as one of the best young midfielders in football and when asked if he can achieve his goals with West Ham, the 22-year-old pointed to a shift in mentality at the east London club.

“Yeah, I think we can,” he said.

“We can achieve good things. Last season we finished three points off the Champions League and easily could have got into that.
