Rio Ferdinand has hit out at Piers Morgan following Arsenal’s defeat against Burnley.
The Gunners lost a fourth straight Premier League game at the Emirates on Sunday evening.
Ferdinand even began mocking Morgan before the final whistle.
He tweeted: “I’m gonna go early guys….. #Tears4Piers
Arsenal’s defeat leaves them languishing in the bottom-half of the table, just five points above the relegation zone.
Mikel Arteta’s side were booed off in north London as fans continue returning to games.
But midway through the contest even Morgan let off some steam on social media.
He said: “Terrible football. Terrible atmosphere. Terrible League position. Terrible discipline. Terrible lack of creativity. It’s all….terrible. Something’s got to give.”
Arsenal have now won only once in their last eight league games.
Optimism has quickly turned to negativity following an impressive end to last season under Arteta which saw the Gunners win the FA Cup.
But the Spaniard himself has acknowledged that things need to change and it is his job to deliver wins.
He said: “We were on top from the beginning to the moment of the sending off.
“We are not winning football matches and I am here to provide wins. Everyday work on it.”
Arteta also bemoaned their lack of firepower as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to struggle for goals after putting through his own net.
He continued: “We need to put the ball in the net that’s what is missing – what we did and what Burnley did there is no comparison.
“Haven’t spoken to Aubameyang yet.”
