Manchester United are reportedly eying four new signings in the summer transfer window as Cristiano Ronaldo’s choice to become the club’s next manager is under consideration
Cristiano Ronaldo could be about to get his way over Manchester United’s pending managerial appointment.
United chiefs have appointed Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis until the end of the season following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking last November. And they now have a four-man shortlist of candidates ahead of a permanent appointment this summer – with Ronaldo thought to have a clear favourite among those under consideration.
It comes as Cristiano Ronaldo Jr and Kai Rooney were both on the scoresheet in the same Manchester United academy game. And the Red Devils’ summer transfer priority has become clear with four new arrivals reportedly being planned for.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Manchester United headlines.
The Manchester United academy’s latest scoresheet looked like it could have been straight out of the noughties with both Cristiano Ronaldo Jr and Kai Rooney netting goals.
Kai Rooney is the oldest son of Wayne and Coleen while Cristiano Jr joined United in February following his dad’s return to Old Trafford last summer. Both of the young stars’ dads played together for the United first-team under Sir Alex Ferguson and their children now appear to be linking up well together at academy level.
And following his latest goals, Rooney in particular has some very impressive statistics.
Transfer priority becomes clear
Manchester United reportedly want to fill four positions in the upcoming transfer window as part of a summer rebuild.
Reports claim the club are eying a striker, an attacking midfielder, a defensive-minded midfielder and also a right-winger. That could indicate that Jadon Sancho is seen as a left-sided attacker – and also spell disaster for Marcus Rashford’s future at the club.
But it is one position on that list in particular that the club are said to be most keen to bring someone in for.
Ronaldo’s choice of manager considered
Cristiano Ronaldo could get his way ahead of the club’s appointment of a new permanent manager this summer with his preferred choice now reportedly being considered.
The Portuguese superstar was reportedly keen for the Old Trafford outfit to bring in Spain manager Luis Enrique following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in November but club chiefs opted to appoint Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis until the end of the season. It has also been revealed that Ajax’s Erik ten Hag has been interviewed for the manager’s role although United bosses are still considering their options.
And reports suggest Enrique could be still handed the opportunity to be the next Manchester United manager.
