Roy Keane’s stinging criticism of “crying” Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United were second best for large portions of their rearranged home clash with Liverpool, succumbing to a 4-2 defeat to their fierce rivals.

It was a slightly nervy second half after Marcus Rashford reduced Liverpool’s advantage to one, but a late strike from Mohamed Salah ensured a vital three points were retuning to Merseyside to blow the race for top four wide open.

Though the result is unlikely to have damaging repercussions for Manchester United, losing to Liverpool at home will still mean morale is low around Old Trafford.

Mixed with Tuesday’s defeat at home to Leicester ensuring local rivals Manchester City’s third Premier League title in four seasons and it has been a particularly bleak 48 hours for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

The Red Devils’ may feel aggrieved over a potential foul in the build up to Firmino’s first goal, but Roy Keane had little complaints.

And he instead launching a stinging attack on Fernandes for spending too much time “crying on the side of the pitch” on a miserable night against Liverpool.

The Manchester United icon said: “Maybe the referee was confused.

“Being critical of Fernandes, he spent half the night crying on the side of the pitch.

“Every time he got tackled he was rolling around.

“I think United’s players are kind of looking for Liverpool to kick the ball out of play, but as we know you’re supposed to carry on unless it’s a head injury.”
