Salah finally on brink of agreeing new Liverpool contract for rest of his career
The saga over Mohamed Salah’s new Liverpool contract appears to be nearing a conclusion with the Egyptian on the verge of signing a fresh deal to remain at Anfield
Mohamed Salah is now close to agreeing a new contract which will keep him at Liverpool until the end of his career.
Mirror Online can reveal that a change of mind from the 29-year-old Egypt international has heightened Anfield hopes of bringing an end to the long drawn out saga over his new deal which is set to give Reds boss Jurgen Klopp a huge boost.
After Salah rejected new terms which would have seen him earning £400,000 a week Liverpool’s owners were fearing the worst and that he would allow his current contract to run down making him a free agent in the summer of 2023.
That would have also made him vulnerable to offers from interested big hitters like Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona this summer.
But now Salah, who appreciates the affection for him on Merseyside which was once again displayed again this week in Liverpool consoling him over Egypt missing out on the World Cup finals, is prepared to compromise on his initial demands of matching the likes of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo’s £500,000-a-week wage packet.
That could involve an extra 12 months on the three years which have been discussed, which would effectively see him play out the best remaining years of his career with the club he joined almost five years ago.
The fact that Salah is ready to commit his future to Liverpool will be celebrated by the red half of the city and give Liverpool’s quest for an unprecedented quadruple a timely lift.
Salah has always maintained he enjoys his life at Liverpool but wanted the fact that he is now recognised as one of the world’s top players replicated with a salary to match. Now he is ready to accept the offer which has been lying on the table for a considerable amount of time after a change of heart.

Liverpool are going in search of an unprecedented quadruple this season with Reds boss Klopp having previously stated there was “no chance” Salah’s contract talks would hinder their bid to win silverware after an apparent veiled dig from the Egyptian’s agent on social media.
Klopp said last month: “This season everyone is completely committed. It is a clear commitment for the team for this season and then we’ll talk about the rest – future, immediate, further. Mo is not a guy for that, not at all. If I don’t line him up then his mood goes down. That is possible, but not against the team or whatever.
“It’s just I think it’s how it should be in the moment. The decisive parties are in contact and the rest we will see. Everyone is committed. We could have some players who don’t play often enough and aren’t in the squad enough and they could create a bad atmosphere. They don’t. They will not. And Mo is not a guy for that.”
