Record-breaking Salah leaves Liverpool boss Klopp in stitches

Mohamed Salah’s agent posted an enigmatic tweet after the Liverpool forward scored against Norwich City on Saturday evening to set a Premier League record.

Salah, 29, netted the Reds’ third goal as they cruised to a convincing 3-0 victory at Carrow Road in their first game of the season.

The Egypt international tends to start each campaign in blistering form and his goal made him the first player in Premier League history to score in the opening game of five consecutive seasons.

Moments after Salah found the back of the net, his agent took to social media with a cryptic message.

Salah struck in the second half to extend Liverpool’s advantage

Ramy Abbas Issa wrote, “I hope they’re watching,” in what has been interpreted as a message to the Anfield chiefs he is negotiating a new contract for his client with.

Salah has two years remaining on his deal with Liverpool and extension talks have dragged on for many months without bearing fruit.

The former Chelsea and Roma man remains linked with a move to the continent, with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid said to be keeping tabs on his situation.

The tweet from Salah’s representative further increases speculation surrounding his future – and it is not the first time Ramy Abbas Issa has posted about his client.

After Jurgen Klopp took Salah off during the defeat by Chelsea in March, the agent simply posted a full stop as he shared in the player’s angst.

The Liverpool No.11 shook his head as he was substituted and was visibly-livid as he took his seat on the bench to watch the rest of the 1-0 defeat.

Salah’s goal and Liverpool’s dominant victory at Norwich means the mood is now much happier in the Reds’ base.

And Klopp picked out his record-breaking talisman – who also assisted Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino’s goals – for praise after the match.

“He’s the first ever player to score five opening weekends in a row? I would have assumed he knew about it and wanted to score,” said Klopp of Salah.

“He would have had extra motivation!

“So yes, he played a really good game. When you know about that and you set up the first two goals, it is really cool and then after that he had scored, he tried to find Sadio (Mane) twice, so it was really good.

“Mo is Mo and when the competition starts he goes into the next gear because he is a proper competitive boy and that is good to have him.”
