Salah’s friend hints there are numerous reasons he is “unhappy” at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has multiple reasons to be unhappy with Liverpool, according to the Egyptian’s close personal friend.

The Liverpool forward is the Premier League’s leading scorer, netting 13 times in as many games for Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

He does still have two-and-a-half years left on his deal at Anfield, but has opened the door on a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona in recent days.

And Salah’s former international teammate Mohamed Aboutrika has claimed that his ‘brother’ has a number of issues with the club, which he is unwilling to disclose.

Mohamed Salah refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid or Barca in the future

One thing Aboutrika was willing to concede is Salah’s disappointment at not being handed the captain’s armband in the recent Champions League clash with FC Midtjylland.

“I called Salah about his situation at Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the field,” Aboutrika told beIN Sports.

“I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public.

“One of the reasons that made Salah angry was that he was not the captain against Midtjylland.”

Salah’s friend has hinted he has a number of problems with Liverpool

Salah confirmed Aboutrika’s claims in a recent interview AS, telling the paper: “Honestly, I was very disappointed. I was hoping to be the captain, but it’s a coach’s decision. I accept it.”

Klopp gave Salah’s comments short shrift following the win over Crystal Palace, with Salah refusing to rule out a move to the La Liga giants.

“That’s a tough question, but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club,” he said when asked about his long term future with the club.

“Of course I want to break records here and, I repeat, all the club records, but everything is in the hands of the club.

“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs. Who knows what will happen in the future.”
