Manchester United have called up teenage wonderkid Shola Shoretire to their squad for the trip to face Real Sociedad.
The 17-year-old midfielder has been impressive in the youth ranks, and has been rewarded with a surprise call-up to the senior side.
While he isn’t expected to start, there is every possibility that he’ll feature at some point in the game.
He might not be the only player to be in for a surprise inclusion, however.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently admitted he is likely to name an altered starting XI for the away tie, considering they have the reverse fixture to fall back on.
In total, the United boss has seven players who could be in line for either a debut or a surprise inclusion against the La Liga contenders.
New signing Amad is also expected to be included in some way against Sociedad.
The winger is yet to feature for the first team but has looked impressive for the under-23 side.
It seems entirely likely that he could be involved against Sociedad, and could play on the opposing flank to another out-of-favour winger; Daniel James.
The Welsh speedster has been short of minutes this season but could be involved against Sociedad, having barely featured in any other competitions this season.
Dean Henderson will likely be another to be given a chance at a comeback, having played just once in Europe this season.
Further up the pitch, Donny van de Beek will probably be given another chance after failing to impress during his time at the club so far.
Juan Mata is another who could be brought in from the sidelines, having been frozen out somewhat this season. The Spaniard has been included in the squad to travel to Spain and could be involved if Solskjaer wants some experience in the side.
Axel Tuanzebe has been unable to get any meaningful game time despite his starring role against Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the season, but is expected to be in contention after being included in the squad for the Sociedad game.
Considering the heavy fixture schedule, Solskjaer will also consider using the game as a chance to rest Luke Shaw and give Alex Telles another chance to prove himself. The new signing looked impressive after joining but has only made 14 appearances in all competitions for the side.
