Shkodran Mustafi has claimed Mikel Arteta’s training sessions are “more detailed” than any he has experienced during his time with Arsenal.
The 28-year-old was signed by legendary Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in 2016, also playing under Unai Emery during his brief spell in north London.
Many expected Mustafi’s Arsenal career to wind down after Arteta was appointed last year, but the Spaniard made him a regular in his starting XI.
And Mustafi has heaped praise on the intense sessions being carried out by Arteta and his staff.
“From day one, everyone believed in what he was trying to put on the pitch, how he wanted his team to play,” Mustafi told the club’s official site.

“I think it made it easier for every single one of us because when you know what you have to do, when you know exactly what’s going on on the pitch and how you have to play your part to make the team strong, it’s what helps the most.
“I went on the pitch and I knew exactly what I had to do, I knew exactly what the coach wants from me and this made a lot of things easier.
“I have to say, I have never had such detailed training sessions. We are working in great detail about everything. Of course, we try to do our football first but then we analyse the next opponent and see where we can defeat the opponents with our strength.
“That’s the positive thing, when you go into the game you have that picture that you had in the training session, you have the same picture in the game and that helps you a lot.”
Despite the good work being done on the training ground, Mustafi is still believed to see his future away from Arsenal.
Football.London reported that the German international was offered a new deal earlier this week, but instead told the club he plans to leave at the end of the season.
Asked about his centre-back by Sky Sports, Arteta replied: “Musti is completely fit to play [against Dundalk on Thursday] and [as] always the internal contractual situations, they’re going to be discussed internally.
“I’m really, really happy with Musti since I joined, the progress that he’s made, the performances that he’s had.”
