Simon Jordan says Noel Gallagher could attend Liam’s performance at Joshua fight

Simon Jordan believes Noel Gallagher could now attend Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois next month.

The monumental news that the Gallagher brothers would reunite was headline news all around the world as Oasis confirmed a reunion that would see Liam and Noel end their feud and perform together for the first time since August 2009.

Frontman Liam will play a mini-gig at the upcoming IBF heavyweight title clash between Joshua and Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

And talkSPORT host Jordan revealed he had contacted his pal Noel to ask if he would attend the event where his formerly estranged brother is set to perform three Oasis classics before the headline act.

“I spoke to Noel yesterday all about [the Oasis reunion],” Jordan said on talkSPORT Boxing.

“It’s funny because I asked him – basically he came to the fight between Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez [in February] – and I had asked him about September 21.

“His reason for not going was because he didn’t think it was a good look, if he was in the crowd, Liam was singing and he was wearing earmuffs!

“But now they’ve all made friends and a big bag of money around the world for them [it could change].

“He loves going [to the big fights], all this hullabaloo for Oasis reforming, they didn’t make the same noise for Blur.”

Oasis became arguably the greatest band of all-time in the Britpop era, with two albums ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘[What’s the Story?] Morning Glory’ becoming two of the highest-selling in British history.

But the pair did not speak after 2009 following Noel’s departure from the band which saw them split entirely.

They have gone on to have huge success separately in solo careers, but will perform, which will be 30 years since What’s the Story Morning Glory was released.

It is unlikely that fans will see the pair back on stage together at the fight, but could see them both present at the national stadium, which is a monumental occasion in itself.

When the band split up, Noel said: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

The event promises to be a huge one with high stakes also on stage between Joshua and Dubois.

The event is a sell out and more than 90,000 fans are expected to attend to see who can get the best of the domestic rivalry.

But Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who is staging the event, has revealed a request has been made to extend the capacity to in excess of 94,000, the British boxing record.

There were 94,000 spectators to see Tyson Fury‘s win over Dillian Whyte in 2021, but there is hope if a licence is granted that this can be surpassed.

Joshua has already fought twice at Wembley Stadium, beating Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin in headline shows.

He will now be hoping to become a three-time heavyweight world champion in front of a home crowd.

A win could set up a showdown with the winner of Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch with Tyson Fury for the undisputed titles in 2025.
