Spectators allowed in for England-India Test series

ngland look set to have spectators for the opening two Tests of their four-match series against India.

Club members are to be allowed inside the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for Friday’s opening Test with a 50 per cent capacity of spectators to be permitted in the stands for the second Test.

It will be the first time Joe Root’s side has played in front of spectators since the start of the pandemic after a summer spent playing at home behind closed doors as well as the recent Sri Lanka series where no spectators were permitted.

Ticket sales for the second Test, which begins a week on Saturday, will open later this week.

England look likely to have a full complement players to select from for the opening Test after all of the touring party’s PCR tests taken on Monday came back negative.

As a result, England were today released from their quarantine and will train as a full group for the first time since their arrival in India on Tuesday afternoon between 2 and 5pm local time.
