Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand ended up watching his former side lose 5-0 at Old Trafford from A&E after an undisclosed medical issue.

The Red Devils were embarrassed by Liverpool, who were clinical in front of goal.

Mohamed Salah grabbed a hat-trick and an assist as Naby Keita and Diogo Jota got in on the act in a one-sided beatdown.

The performance had United fans leaving Old Trafford at half-time with the scoreline at 4-0, but Ferdinand was left in a more uncomfortable position.

It is unknown as to what happened to the former defender, but he took to social media to confirm he’d been rushed to hospital during the match.

However, Ferdinand posted a photo of himself lying on a hospital bed on Twitter with the caption “These 60 minutes have sent me to A&E…”

It has been a spectacular transition for Ferdinand who just a couple of years ago, was rubbing his hands in expectation and demanding that United give Solskjaer the United job on a permanent basis.

However, he would have likely been covering his eyes with his hands as Jurgen Klopp’s men steamrolled United at the Theatre of Dreams.

Naby Keita started turning the screw for Liverpool within the first five minutes, clinically taking an early chance to give the Merseysiders an early lead.

Very soon after Jota slid onto a low cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to double Liverpool’s advantage on the 16 minute mark.

Liverpool went through a slight lull as United began to edge their way back into the contest.

Unfortunately, this period of control for United barely lasted twenty minutes, as Salah put the contest beyond United with their first of his three goals in the 38th minute.

And to completely silent any vague hopes of a United comeback, Salah slotted in his second goal of the contest with the final kick of the first-half.

While Neville did not need to be rushed into hospital, he was also stunned by the way United collapsed in the first half.

“I don’t think it’ll change after today, but this brings massive pressure, Martin,” said Neville.

“This is the first super-team they’ve played and they’re getting pulled apart like you wouldn’t believe.

“Five [or] six weeks, it’s been coming, United haven’t come up against a [team like] City or Chelsea.

“The first time they do they’ve been torn to shreds. It’s shown them exactly where they’re at.”

Things did not get much better for the Red Devils in the second half, as Salah went on to complete a memorable hattrick within the first five minutes.

Liverpool put on the handbrake after sensing the game was signed, sealed, and delivered, but the drama did not stop there as Paul Pogba was given a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Keita.
