Could Monaco be potential destination for Arsenal’s Willock?

Arsenal have reportedly made their initial move to sign James Maddison as they enter negotiations with Leicester City.

Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the England midfielder as he looks to sign a creative midfielder during the transfer window.

Martin Odegaard was initially the North London club’s top target after his excellent loan spell during the second half of last season.

But with the Real Madrid man set to fight for his place under Carlo Ancelotti’s new-look side, Arsenal have turned their attention to Maddison.

Brendan Rodgers’ side value the 24-year-old at £60million which is likely to be too high of an asking price for Arsenal given the club shelled out £50m for Brighton’s Ben White.

But the Gunners are proposing a player plus cash deal to get over that stumbling block in the hope that Leicester will be interested in a sweetener, reports football.london.

It has not been disclosed who has been offered as makeweights, but there are three players that are up for sale this summer.

Joe Willock, who has been linked with a move to Monaco, impressed on loan at Newcastle last season as he enjoyed a hot streak in front of goal, but the North London club are looking to sell the playmaker while his stock is high.

Naturally, a return to the Magpies was touted, but a deal has yet to materialise and there’s a good chance he could be offered to the Foxes in part exchange for Maddison.

Reiss Nelson is another player surplus to requirements at the Emirates but is still at an age that would possibly interest Leicester as they would be getting a player with potential in return.

The same goes for Eddie Nketiah who has failed to kick on at the Emirates since his brilliant introduction a few years ago.

Mikel Arteta would be willing to part ways with the youngster if the right opportunity presents itself and the potential addition of Maddison certainly fits that description.
