What a day of racing we have to look forward to at Newbury this afternoon, with last weekend’s postponed Betfair Super Saturday card becoming a Super Sunday instead.
The UK’s most vaulable handicap hurdle, the Betfair Hurdle, is the feature race on the card, with Cadzand currently the market favourite for Dan Skelton, but as ever, it looks an extremely competitive contest.
Elsewhere on the card, the Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase sees several promising two-milers looking to emphasise their Champion Chase claims, but most intriguingly of all, the field also includes last year’s RSA winner Champ, who makes his seasonal reappearance ahead of a possible tilt at the Gold Cup.
Speaking of the Gold Cup, we should get some hints from the Grade 2 Denamn Chase, where Clan Des Obeaux – who won’t go to Cheltenham – heads a field that includes Lostintranslation and The Conditional.

Last weekend’s torrid weather has given us a blockbuster bonus card at Newbury with Betfair Super Saturday turning into Super Sunday.
The re-arranged meeting is headlined by the Betfair Hurdle, the most lucrative handicap hurdle race in the UK.
And if that isn’t enough to whet the appetite, there’s also back-to-back Grade 2 action in the Denman Chase and the Gamer Spirit Chase, both of which could have major clues for the Cheltenham Festival, which is now less than a month away.
Johnny Ward will be taking you through the action.
