Tottenham Women boss Skinner aiming to build on Hills and Amoros’ work

ehanne Skinner is looking to build on the foundations laid by Karen Hills and Juan Amoros after being appointed as the new head coach of Tottenham Women.

The pair, however, were sacked by Tottenham last month after being winless in their first seven league games this season.

Skinner has started working full-time with Tottenham from this week after finishing her last England camp and her first game in charge will be against Brighton this weekend.

She is relishing getting going and is hoping to build on the work done by Amoros and Hills, who were popular figures at Tottenham.

“I think, obviously, Karen and Juan have had a really long history in the game,” Skinner said.

“They have been around for as long as I have really. Everything that they have done has been a really positive stepping stone to get the club to where it is now.

“So, hopefully, from coming in at this stage, I am now in a position to move it forward to the next stage that the club is looking to progress to – and build on all the good work that they have done.”

Skinner has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Spurs until the end of the 2022-23 Women’s Super League campaign and she is excited about the project ahead.

“When I spoke to the club, I think the vision, obviously long-term, about how the women will be brought into the club and Spurs family was a big plus for me,” Skinner added.

“I think the way that the club is going, it is in a growth period and I have had experience of going through clubs and different environments, where developing those clubs and environments has been really key at that time.

“So I think I have had a bit of experience in and around that, which was something that also attracted me.

“It is an opportunity to move this project forward a little bit more now and really help to develop it in the same way the club are looking to develop it.”
