Roma baffled by Zaniolo decision

Roma boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly baffled by Nicolo Zaniolo decision to withdraw from match duty this weekend.

Zaniolo has decided to steop away from the playing squad amid speculation over his future, namely interest from Premier League trio Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham.

It is a decision which has caught the club by surprise, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, including Mourinho and General Manager Tiago Pinto with the club yet to receive a contract offer.

Man United want Kane

Manchester United are interested in signing Tottenham talisman Harry Kane this summer, but will have to part with close to a club-record sum to do so.

The Mail report that Kane is open to moving to Old Trafford in the summer, by which time he will have 12 months to run on his Spurs contract, as manager Erik ten Hag targets a new striker as a transfer priority.

Spurs’ only hope of keeping Kane would be qualification for the Champions League, which looks more remote by the week after a poor start to 2023, with contract talks not progressing.

So Spurs chairman Daniel Levy must decide whether to cash in or stand firm again. A £85m price tag is understood to be enough, though Levy could well bump that up for a Premier League rival.

Nkunku warned over joining Chelsea

Timo Werner has warned Christopher Nkunku that playing for Chelsea is not like RB Leipzig.

The striker is set to seal a summer switch to the Blues, with his teammate in Germany saying: “I can tell him about positive and negative experiences should he change. At a club like this, you don’t play like you do at RB Leipzig because there’s more competition – not just on a sporting level, but also on a different level, mentally.

“You have to deal with that and everyone has to find their own way. That’s why it’s the wrong approach to give tips to others. Time has changed me a lot.”
