Chelsea talks confirmed
Chelsea’s move for Anel Ahmedhodzic has been blocked by the Malmo player’s agent, according to the defender’s father.
The Blues have been linked in local media with a cut-price move for Ahmedhodzic, with the 21-year-old expected to leave his current club in the near future.
Ahmedhodzic’s father, Mirsad, has claimed talks with Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia have taken place, but his son’s representive is hampering a transfer.
Defender Ahmedhodzic remains likely to leave Malmo in the summer, if not before.
“He’s [agent, Markus Rosenberg] not doing his job. He has told Marina at Chelsea that Anel is not going there,” Mirsad Ahmedhodzic told Sportbladet.
“[Anel] wants to go abroad after the season finishes.”
Spurs lead race for Sabitzer
Tottenham are leading the race for RB Leipzig forward Marcel Sabitzer, report SportBILD.
The 26-year-old is reportedly attracting a lot of interest as he enters the final 18 months of his contract in Germany, and will be available for a cheaper fee.
Leipzig are hesitant to extend his contract due to the expense likely required, paving the way for a move next summer at around £27m.
Arsenal in talks over £22m Szoboszlai
Arsenal are in talks over a £22m deal for Dominik Szoboszlai, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The RB Salzburg midfielder has been touted as a perfect partner for Thomas Partey and could be available for a cut-down price at the age of 20.
The player’s agent reportedly claimed the Gunners interested was “real” and now it’s claimed that talks with Edu have taken place.
‘Arsenal man’ Wilshere couldn’t play for Spurs
Jack Wilshere says his Arsenal links mean he could never represent Tottenham.
The 34-cap England midfielder made 198 senior appearances for the Gunners after joining aged nine and being handed his senior debut at 16, before leaving in 2018 in search of more regular first-team football.
Wilshere is now a free agent again after mutually agreeing the end of his underwhelming two-year stint at West Ham, but says he could never play for Spurs despite an admiration for Jose Mourinho.
“I love Mourinho, I think he’s an unbelievable coach … But I couldn’t do it,” he said.
“They wouldn’t have me… But I don’t think I could do it.
“It’s not as if Arsenal got rid of me and kicked me out and there is bad feeling, they offered me a deal and I wanted to try something else. I’m an Arsenal man.”
Athletic Bilbao targetting Pochettino
Athletic Bilbao want to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach.
The Argentine recently signalled his readiness to return to management 12 months on from being sacked by Tottenham and has been heavily linked with Manchester United as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Solskjaer earned himself some respite with a crucial win at Everton on Saturday, with Spanish newspaper Marca now reporting that Pochettino is a shock candidate to take the reins at LaLiga side Athletic.
Like Solskjaer, current Bilbao boss Gaizka Garitano is under pressure following a disappointing start to the 2020/21 season, with former Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde and Valencia’s Marcelino Garcia Toral also said to be under consideration for a move to the Basque country.
However, it is said that Pochettino’s wage demands could be a problem for Athletic.

Man United could still sign Grealish
Jack Grealish could soon find himself back near the top of Manchester United’s transfer wishlist.
The Manchester Evening News speculate that the in-form Aston Villa captain could be lined up for a move to Old Trafford if the likes of Juan Mata – out of contract in June – and Paul Pogba depart next summer.
The MEN also report that no talks were held between United and Villa during the most recent transfer window over a potential deal for Grealish.
Arsenal in crowded Brenner fight
Arsenal look to be involved in a busy race to sign Brazilian striker Brenner.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Gunners are one of SIX European clubs interested in the 20-year-old, who currently plays for Sao Paulo.
Ajax, Juventus, Lazio, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be tracking the former Brazilian youth international, who has a €50m release clause in his current contract.
Arsenal have of course had recent success with regards to signing a young striker from Brazil, with Gabriel Martinelli – a £6m arrival from Ituano in the summer of 2019 – going from strength to strength before suffering a serious knee injury in June.
‘Like a new signing’ alert
A star name is back at Arsenal.

How Arsenal ‘missed’ Bellingham deal
Arsenal have a famous list of players that got away… and you can add Jude Bellingham to it, according to Tony Adams.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the young Borussia Dortmund star – who has been called up to the senior England squad – former Arsenal captain Adams said: “It got lost this one in the transition of the chief scout at Arsenal going out.
“He was spotted very early on by the recruitment office and the chief scout was absolutely bowled over by the great prospect that he is.
“Our new sports director Edu, coming from Brazil had no European or UK experience and it got lost.
“Unfortunately the chief scout had the deal done but we missed that one.
“He’s a great talent but unfortunately has not joined the right club!”
