Arsenal monitoring Bertrand
Standard Sport understands that Arsenal are considering a move for Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand as they look to provide competition for Kieran Tierney.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta revealed this week the club are in the market for a left-back to compete with Tierney after Sead Kolasinac was allowed to join Schalke on loan.
Bertrand is into the final six months of his contract with the Saints and has been in protracted talks over a new deal with the south coast club.
The former Chelsea full-back, who still lives near the Blues’ west London training ground and commutes to Southampton, was of interest to Leicester in the summer following the sale of Ben Chillwell and the Foxes have kept tabs on the situation since.
The 31-year-old is thought to be happy to stay at the club he joined in 2014 – but, should a new deal not be agreed, offers from the likes of Arsenal would be hard to turn down.
Southampton would not sanction a sale this month with Bertrand being their only senior left-back, while the player would be happy to wait until the end of the season to assess his options if the new contract is not signed.

Fiorentina eye Anderson move
Italian side Fiorentina are considering a loan move for Felipe Anderson this month, writes Jack Rosser.
The Brazilian playmaker has desperately struggled during his spell on loan at FC Porto across the first half of the season and West Ham would be interested in moving him once more in order to protect the value of a player they spent £35million on in 2018.
Anderson is understood to only want a move should everything fit and is wary of moving to a new club and having to settle all over again so quickly after moving to Portugal. Neither club nor player see much benefit in him returning to east London for the remainder of the season
Odegaard ‘not a close contact of Zidane’
There may have been a few Arsenal fans fearing the worst when the news broke an hour ago that Zinedine Zidane has tested positive for coronavirus.
However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein says Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard has not been deemed a close contact of the Frenchman, meaning his proposed move to Arsenal shouldn’t be affected.
