Auba a Kane alternative for City?
Manchester City must pursue Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if they are unable to prise Harry Kane from Tottenham.
That’s the verdict of former Gunners and Scotland forward Charlie Nicholas, who insists Aubameyang is “as good a finisher as Kane”.
Mirror Football understands City are still £50million off meeting Spurs’ asking price for the England captain after their opening £100million bid was rejected – and Nicholas believes Aubameyang presents Pep Guardiola’s side with an ideal cut-price alternative.
He told the ‘Where’s Jeff’ podcast: “They (City) could go for someone like Aubameyang.
“It looks like something is going wrong at Arsenal at the moment, and we do know Aubameyang scores goals. He’s got pace, and he’s got movement.
“I prefer him on the left, but I could see something like that materialise. It gives Manchester City a cheaper option. He’s not as good as Kane, but he’s as good a finisher as Kane.”
