elcome back to our LIVE coverage of all the latest transfer news, deals, gossip and rumours with the January window now just days away from opening.
While Covid-19 has had a huge impact on clubs’ finances across the world, big money was still spent in the summer window and will no doubt change hands once again as we enter 2021.
There will also be the chance to land some big players on pre-contract agreements for the summer, with Lionel Messi unlikely to sign a new deal at Barcelona following his extraordinary fallout with the club.
Manchester City look odds-on to land the Argentine legend with Pep Guardiola in charge, but a reunion with Neymar at PSG is also a distinct possibility.
It could be a case of one-in, one-out at the Etihad is reports are to be believed, with The Mirror claiming Real Madrid want to sign Phil Foden this summer.
Elsewhere, one player seemingly on Spurs’ own transfer wishlist is Marcel Sabitzer. It is claimed that the RB Leipzig midfielder is a £45million target for the north London club, with Barcelona rumoured to be keeping an eye on club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are likely to continue their search for a creative midfield player, with The Athletic suggesting Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt could fit the bill.

Messi on his future
Lionel Messi says he will wait until the end of the season to decide on his future despite being able to speak to clubs about a Bosman transfer in January.
“I have nothing clear until the end of the year,” he told La Sexta. “I will wait until the season is over. I focus on getting titles and not on other things.
“I don’t know if I’m going to leave or not, but if I go I would like to leave in the best way. If I leave, I would like to return to live in the city and work at the club. Barcelona is much bigger than any player. Hopefully the president who comes will do things well.
“It’s a love story from a very young age with the club and the city. No matter how it ends, it doesn’t have to stain everything I’ve experienced in my career. Everything is always overcome.”
Moyes: I thought about signing Welbeck
West Ham take on Brighton later on this afternoon and Hammers boss David Moyes has revealed that he considered trying to sign the Seagulls forward this summer.
“I am really pleased for Danny because I enjoyed working with him at Manchester United, he is a great boy and enthusiastic,” Moyes said.
“He has had a few injuries and he was someone who I did consider and I was probably just a little concerned about his injuries in the past more than anything else.
“I have got to say I am really pleased for him because he is a good boy, a good footballer who has worked hard on his game and been doing well for Brighton.”
Arsenal considering Brandt
The Athletic say that Arsenal may make a move for German international Julian Brandt next month.
The Gunners’ creative woes are well documented and they failed with a move for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar in the summer.
However, the report claims that interest in the Frenchman has cooled, and attention could turn instead to Brandt, who has struggled to secure a regular starting spot at Borussia Dortmund.
Juve still interested in January Pogba move
Juventus are still keen on taking Paul Pogba back to Turin next month, according to Eurosport.
The saga over the Frenchman’s future seems a never-ending one, with his agent Mino Raiola starting a rather public war of words with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over it in recent weeks.
As for whether we’ll get a resolution in January – the report claims Juve would only be able to pay £50m, so you’d imagine not.
City eye Foden move
The Mirror are reporting that Real Madrid could make a summer move for Manchester City star Phil Foden.
The report claims the Spanish giants are ready to take advantage of any frustrations the 20-year-old has with his lack of Premier League playing time.
Chelsea join Haaland race
Erling Braut Haaland is one of the most sought after strikers in world football.
According to Sky Italia, Frank Lampard and Chelsea have now joined the list of suitors, which also includes Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Manchester City. Not much competition, then.
Messi to Paris?
With Mauricio Pochettino set to return to management with his former club Paris Saint-Germain, French outlet Le Parisien are reporting that the ex-Tottenham boss wants to bring Lionel Messi to Ligue 1.
The 33-year-old is set to be the focus of the year ahead and while a January move is unthinkable, Messi is out of contract in the summer and has admirers all over the globe.
Manchester City remain heavily linked with a move but Pochettino’s appointment could turn the Argentine’s head.
Chelsea and Man United in Caicedo battle
Elsewhere, the fight to sign highly-rated Ecuadorian teenager Moises Caicedo seems to be ramping up ahead of January.
Manchester United are understood to have been trying to get a £4.5m deal for the Independiente del Valle midfielder over the line.
However, the Daily Mail report that Chelsea have now stepped up their own attempts to sign Caicedo and are pondering a bid to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino wants Dele reunion at PSG
Speaking of Tottenham, could Dele Alli secure a January exit from north London?
The England midfielder has been reduced to a bit-part role over recent months and his part in Stoke’s goal in the 3-1 Carabao Cup quarter-final win at the bet365 Stadium in midweek provoked an angry reaction from manager Jose Mourinho.
The Sun now report that Dele will be former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino’s first PSG transfer target in the New Year, with the Argentine believed to be in advanced talks to succeed Thomas Tuchel at the Parc des Princes.
Tottenham eye £45m Sabitzer in January
Plenty more talk over recent days regarding a potential move to Tottenham for Marcel Sabitzer.
Widespread reports suggest that the RB Leipzig midfielder is a £45m target for Spurs, particularly with Barcelona rumoured to still be keeping a close eye on club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
It is said that Sabitzer made a significant impression on Jose Mourinho when Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League last 16 by Leipzig back in March.
