Transfer news LIVE! Ramos to Liverpool, Man City; Guendouzi recall

It’s been something of a slow start to the New Year window for obvious reasons as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause financial uncertainty across the Premier League and beyond.

However, deals are still expected to be made this month, with clubs and managers eager not to leave themselves too understrength for what promises to be a hectic second half to the 2020/21 campaign.

Chelsea look to have the edge on Manchester United – who could face interest from new PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino in Paul Pogba –  in the race to sign Declan Rice, with reports that the West Ham midfielder would prefer to move to Stamford Bridge.

Both Frank Lampard and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are also said to have a strong interest in French defender Dayot Upamecano, who may be allowed to leave RB Leipzig. Jesse Lingard is attracting interest from Inter Milan, meanwhile.

Tottenham have been linked with Real Madrid defender Eder Militao and Upamecano’s Leipzig team-mate Marcel Sabitzer, while West Ham are now said to be tracking Watford’s Ismaila Sarr and Mariano Diaz as they seek attacking reinforcements following the sale of Sebastien Haller to Ajax, but look to have missed out on Moussa Dembele.

Borussia Dortmund may be willing to sell Arsenal target Julian Brandt for the right price, while the Gunners could have to pay a sizable sum to offload Mesut Ozil.

Manchester City stalwart Fernandinho has received several offers ahead of becoming a free agent this summer and Liverpool are still waiting for good news with regards to David Alaba and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Hammers linked with Daka

Unsurprisingly, there’s plenty of speculation around today concerning West Ham’s now pressing need for a striker.

The latest name to be linked is RB Leipzig forward Patson Daka, with the Mirror reporting that the Hammers have been offered the chance to sign the Zambian in a £25m deal.

Guendouzi set for Arsenal recall?

Reports in the German press suggest Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guenoduzi could be set for a surprise recall from his loan spell at Hertha Berlin this month.

Guendouzi has impressed since being sent to the Bundesliga for the season, having fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta, but BILD say the Spaniard may now be ready to find space for him in his plans.

Zidane: I don’t know if Ramos will stay

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has admitted he does not know whether Sergio Ramos will still be at the club by the start of next season, putting a number of Premier League clubs on red alert.

Ramos is now free to negotiate with European clubs, with less than six months to run on his contract.

The Spaniard has been linked with both Manchester City and Tottenham, the latter where he would reunite with former Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, while Liverpool are in need of reinforcements at centre-back and have also been rumoured to be monitoring the situation.

“Are we going to have a Cristiano [Ronaldo] case?” Zidane said. “I don’t know what will happen with Ramos.

“He is here with us at the moment.

“We’re just focused on [Saturday’s] game [against Osasuna].”

Dembele set to join Atletico Madrid

One striker that won’t be heading to West Ham as a Haller replacement is Moussa Dembele.

The former Fulham and Celtic forward was tentatively linked with the Hammers earlier this week, but now looks set to clinch a move to Atletico Madrid instead.

According to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, a loan deal is set to be agreed with Lyon that includes the option for Atleti to sign Dembele on a permanent basis in the summer.

Personal terms have reportedly been agreed, with the Frenchman set to undergo a medical.

Atletico had been chasing Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose and Napoli frontman Arkadiusz Milik, per Romano.

Inter Milan eye Lingard loan swoop

Inter Milan want to sign Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard on loan.

That is per The Mirror, who say that the Nerazzurri would first have to offload former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

If he did end up making the move to Italy, Lingard – who had made just two appearances for United this season, both in the Carabao Cup, before starting in the FA Cup win over Watford last night – would join former Old Trafford team-mates Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young at the San Siro.

Everton in talks over King swap deal

Another player that has long been on West Ham’s radar is Josh King.

However, it looks like Everton have stolen a march in the race to sign the Norwegian striker – also linked with West Brom – after entering into talks with Bournemouth over a swap deal.

That is according to The Sun, who say that young Everton defenders Jarrad Branthwaite and Jonjoe Kenny are of interest to the Cherries.

Ozil exit ‘could cost Arsenal £7m’

An update on the Mesut Ozil saga now.

The Star quotes Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, who claims that the German midfielder is still owed around £7.2m on his lucrative £350,000 a week Arsenal contract.

Will the Gunners have to come to some sort of financial agreement to remove from the books a player who has not featured for the club since last March?

Pochettino eyes Pogba for PSG move

Another day, another Premier League player linked with Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain.

This time it’s Paul Pogba, with the Star on Sunday reporting that the wantaway Manchester United midfielder is now Pochettino’s top transfer target.

It is said that PSG may only have to pay £75m for the World Cup winner as they look to beat Real Madrid and Juventus to a summer deal.

West Ham ready to make £30m Sarr offer

Ismaila Sarr is another player seemingly being targeted by West Ham.

The Sun claim that the Hammers are ready to submit a £30m offer for the Watford star, who was heavily linked with Manchester United and Liverpool during the summer window.

Crystal Palace also failed with a £25m move for the versatile Senegalese winger on deadline day.

West Ham eye Mariano Diaz

West Ham have been mentioned in connection with so many potential attacking recruits since offloading record signing Sebastien Haller to Ajax on Friday.

The latest is Mariano Diaz, with the Mail on Sunday claiming that the Hammers are pondering a loan move for the Real Madrid forward, who has made only six appearances this season and was previously a target for West Brom.

The report also mentions Slavia Prague’s teenage forward Abdallah Sima as a possible Haller replacement.
