Well, that move has worked out well…

Jude Bellingham has been added to the England squad after James Ward-Prowse and Trent Alexander-Arnold withdrew through injury.

The 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder was originally included in the Under-21 squad but he will now join up with Gareth Southgate’s senior squad for the first time.

Bellingham has impressed in the Bundesliga since joining Dortmund from Birmingham for £30million over the summer and he will link up with the England squad for the triple-header against Ireland, Belgium and Iceland.

Neymar wants PSG stay

Neymar has told Paris Saint-Germain that he is willing to sign a new contract at the club, according to Telefoot

The news would be a major boost for the Ligue 1 giants, who look likely to lose Kylian Mbappe either next summer or when his deal expires in 2022, with the Frenchman reportedly having shown no interest in penning a new contract.

Dembele set for Barca stay

Manchester United’s chances of signing Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele have reportedly suffered a significant blow, with the Frenchman now likely to stay the Nou Camp in January.

United made a late move for Dembele this summer after a much-touted move for Jadon Sancho failed to materialise but the Barca man reportedly turned the switch down.

However, with teenage star Ansu Fati out injured, Sport claim Ronald Koamen is ready to hand Dembele a more prominent role.

Spurs to get Bale bargain?

Well, one Spurs star of old who has already returned to north London is, of course, Gareth Bale, who is currently on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.

There have already been suggestions that could be extended to a second year, but Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Tottenham could be offered the chance to make the deal permanent for as little as €15million.

Spurs offered Eriksen return

Football Insider report that Tottenham will have the chance to re-sign midfielder Christian Eriksen in January – only a year after he quit the club.

Eriksen left Tottenham midway through last season to join Inter Milan as Spurs opted to cash in on a player who would have been able to leave for nothing when his contract expired at the end of last season.

However, the Dane has struggled to make an impact in Antonio Conte’s side and the Serie A club were reportedly willing to let him leave on loan in the summer in a bid to get at least a portion of his wages off their bill.

Emi Martinez reveals Arsenal exit text to Arteta

Emiliano Martinez asked to leave Arsenal by sending Mikel Arteta a text message.

Goalkeeper Martinez, who helped his new club Aston Villa beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates on Sunday evening, told reporters: “I just wanted to play first-team football and Arsenal could not guarantee me that.

“They would not say I was going to play in the first game of the season against Fulham so when I had that doubt I had to leave and Villa were the first option and the only one for me.”

After learning from Arteta that Bernd Leno would be number one, Martinez said:  “We sat down, I think he said it in a meeting.

“I was talking to him in front of a team-mate as well. I told him I wanted to play week in, week out and he couldn’t guarantee who was going to start.

“Even before the Community Shield he didn’t know who was going to play in goal. After 10 years at the club I didn’t want to wait until Friday night, the day before the game, to know whether I was going to play against Fulham or not.

“So I just text him to say I was going to Aston Villa, so please help me and let me go.”

Pogba ‘cannot be happy’ at Man United

Didier Deschamps says Paul Pogba needs time to return to his best for Manchester United, but believes the midfielder is far from be pleased with his current situation at the club.

“He is in a situation with his club where he cannot be happy, neither with his playing time, nor with his positioning,” France coach Deschamps told reporters earlier today.

“He is not in his best period, he has had a series of injuries and the COVID-19 which has hit him quite hard. He needs to find his rhythm.

“With me, there is no such concern. When a player is in discomfort in his club, obviously, he is happy to play for the France team. He will tell me about his feelings and as I know him very well, it will go in a positive direction.”

Man United need ‘four’ Bruno Fernandes-esque signings

Bruno Fernandes once again made the difference for Manchester United as they won 3-1 at Everton on Saturday – but Louis Saha says the club are going to need more signings like him if they are to compete for top honours.

Saha told Stadium Astro: “The signing of Fernandes, you need four of them. You need four of them to actually compete and this is what is missing. You need to know the mentality of new players.

“I want players there who want to win the Champions League and win big trophies. This is what is required here.”

Crystal Palace’s summer signings

Jack Rosser: Eberechi Eze made quite the arrival over the weekend with his stunning free-kick and pin-point corner to assist Scott Dann. The former QPR man brings a new creative dimension to Palace outside of Andros Townsend and Wilf Zaha’s potent running.

It has been a slower start for Michy Batshuayi, who is yet to score but has been denied by some narrow offside calls, while Jack Butland and Nathan Ferguson are yet to make a first team appearance.
