The summer window is starting to hot up as clubs step up their efforts to sign and sell players.
The biggest splash of the window so far has seen Manchester United finally land long-time target Jadon Sancho in a deal worth £73million. The transfer is expected to be finalised this week with a medical completed. Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga are also priority targets.
Chelsea also want to sign a superstar from Dortmund and are reportedly ready to bid £150m for Erling Haaland, looking to beat the fierce competition for a striker who is available for half that price next summer, but could turn to Robert Lewandowski as frustrations grow.
Tottenham’s transfer activity has stepped up a gear now Nuno Espirito Santo has been confirmed as their new manager. Danny Ings remains their priority signing with the club determined to keep Harry Kane. In defence, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jules Kounde are reported targets, with Lyon’s Houssem Aouar also of interest as Spurs close in on Atalanta duo Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini.
Manchester City are once again ready to splash the cash as they target huge deals for both Kane and Jack Grealish, though managing to prise the pair away from Tottenham and Aston Villa will prove difficult. Villa are confident of Grealish agreeing a new contract, while Spurs have repeatedly ruled out selling their prized asset.
Liverpool have been linked with Saul Niguez, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Barella as well as a potential deal for Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches as they look to replace Gini Wijnaldum, while big doubts have emerged over the future of captain Jordan Henderson.

Gollini to Tottenham move imminent
Pierluigi Gollini’s rumoured move to Tottenham has now got the “confirmed and here we go” treatment from Fabrizio Romano!
Romano says it’s an initial season-long loan deal that includes the option for Spurs to extend by another year or sign the 26-year-old Atalanta goalkeeper permanently for a fee of €15m.
He adds that certain targets being achieved could lead to that buy option becoming an obligation.
Gollini has one senior cap for Italy and was previously on the books at Manchester United, while he also made 20 appearances for Aston Villa between 2016-18.
He will provide competition for Hugo Lloris, who turns 35 later this year and has entered the final 12 months of his Tottenham contract.
Joe Hart is currently the only senior back-up to captain Lloris in N17 after Paulo Gazzaniga’s release last month.
Gollini to Tottenham
It seems that Pierluigi Gollini to Tottenham is now just a matter of time, according to this tweet from Italian transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio…
Spurs on verge of double deal for Romero and Gollini
Tottenham are on the verge of signing two players from Serie A side Atalanta, reports suggest.
According to football.london, Spurs are in advanced talks to sign Argentine defender Cristian Romero and Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
The duo would become the first players recruited by Tottenham during the reign of new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
It is claimed that Atalanta intend to activate their option to buy Romero for €16m, having signed the player on a two-year loan from Juventus last summer.
They then reportedly intend to quickly sell him on to Tottenham for a profit.
It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Spurs raid Serie A for new players this summer, having appointed former Juventus stalwart Fabio Paratici as their new managing director of football in June.
Mills: Ben White is ‘better than Arsenal’
After completing deals for Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga, Arsenal look poised to add Ben White to their list of summer signings next, once the England defender has returned from a post-European Championship vacation.
The Gunners agreed a £50m deal in principle with Brighton for the 23-year-old centre-back last week and he is expected to undergo a medical in north London once he finishes a vacation in Greece.
But former England, Leeds and Manchester City full-back Danny Mills has questioned why White would want to join Arsenal at this stage as well as expressing suprise that the likes of Manchester United have not swooped for the former Leeds loanee as they also hunt for a new centre-half to play alongside skipper Harry Maguire.
“I think he’s better than Arsenal right now,” Mills told talkSPORT.
“I just wonder what his ambitions are. I’m surprised bigger and better clubs with more of a chance to win something haven’t come in for him.
“I think he is better than that at the moment. What is he going to win at Arsenal? The League Cup if he is lucky. Maybe the FA Cup?
“It’s going to be a while before Arsenal win a Champions League. Winning the Premier League, you’re looking probably seven or eight years down the line, he might be retiring before that stage.
“I think he is an exceptional player and a fantastic signing for Arsenal, I’m just a little surprised Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-half, haven’t come in for him.”
Done deal! Milan seal Brahim Diaz return
AC Milan have successfully secured the return of Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid.
The ex-Manchester City youngster, 21, spent last season on loan at the San Siro, where he scored seven goals and provided four assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Attacking midfielder Brahim, who made his senior Spain debut last month, has now returned to Milan on another loan deal lasting for two further seasons.
He will inherit the no10 shirt recently vacated by Turkish playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, who recently joined rivals Inter on a free transfer.
Farke delighted with new Hanley deal
It’s fair to say that Norwich boss Daniel Farke seems thrilled with influential skipper Hanley’s decision to pen a new long-term contract at Carrow Road…
“It is great news for us. We’re absolutely delighted to have Grant with us for the coming years,” he said.
“I have been working with him for many years now and it has been a joy and a pleasure. He’s a great character and also our club captain. He is a great footballer and a great personality in the dressing room.
“We need his quality and also his personality to be successful. It is great that he has committed his future to the football club.”
Captain Hanley signs new Norwich deal
To Carrow Road now, where there is news of a contract extension for Norwich captain Grant Hanley.
After appearing at Euro 2020, the Scottish defender, 29, has put pen to paper on a new deal with the newly-promoted Canaries lasting until 2025.
Hanley made 42 appearances for Norwich in the Championship last season as Daniel Farke’s side secured a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
“I’m over the moon. For me, I’m very grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given,” Hanley said.
“Since the moment I walked through the door, It’s been so welcoming and and they’ve made me feel part of something.
“To commit my future here means a lot to me and my family as well. My partner loves it here and it’s such a nice play to live.
“I have a little girl now who’s nearly a year old. Everything about the place is great and I’m really pleased.”
What can Arsenal fans expect from Lokonga?
For those Arsenal fans that won’t have seen much of Lokonga’s career to date, here was the 21-year-old’s response when asked if he prefers to play as a box-to-box or more attacking midfielder…
“I can play both,” he said.
“I can play as a six and I can play like a box to box, but people say that I’m better in the six position.”
Lokonga did not hesitate over Arsenal move
Now let’s hear from the man himself!
Albert Sambi Lokonga has given his first interview to Arsenal’s official website, revealing that he did not hesitate for one second when he first heard of the club’s interest in his signature.
He is also confident of making the big step up to Premier League football in 2021/22.
“The president of the club [Anderlecht] told me about the interest of Arsenal,” said Lokonga.
“My lawyer also told me about the interest of Arsenal and I didn’t hesitate for one second, I told them: ‘Yeah, excuse me, I will go there’.
“I have to thank the coach [Mikel Arteta] and [technical director] Edu because they really wanted me here.”
He added: “It’s a big move because I have been playing for Anderlecht for 10 years so it’s going to be my first big move to another country.
“It’s a big step, but I feel confident because we have to be. In the football world, you have to feel confident about yourself, but I’m looking to play in this league and I can’t wait to start.”
Edu: There was ‘a lot of interest’ in Lokonga
And here’s Arsenal technical director Edu, who is clearly very pleased that the club managed to see off a host of rivals to the signing of Lokonga.
“We are delighted Albert has signed with us, as there was a lot of interest in him and he was a big target for us,” he said.
“Albert is a player we’ve been tracking for some time, and he will bring us strength in depth in the centre of midfield.
“We look forward to his continued development with us.”
