Transfer Talk! Saul to Man Utd or Liverpool? Lautaro, Haaland latest

The summer transfer window is in full swing as Europe’s top clubs step up their efforts to sign and sell players.

Paul Pogba could be on the move though, but could delay his decision beyond this summer. PSG want him, while Mino Raiola has reportedly offered Pogba to Liverpool… cheeky. PSG, meanwhile, face a fight of their own to keep Kylian Mbappe, with Real Madrid a possibility. Should Pogba leave United, then Saul Niguez is a reported target – but Liverpool are also said to be interested.

Arsenal have made one big move in £50m Ben White, and want another in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. Hector Bellerin could be used a makeweight, but Tottenham are said to also be interested should they sell Harry Kane to Manchester City… and Jack Grealish may be moving to the Etihad for £100m.

Chelsea want Haaland or Romelu Lukaku to lead their attack, with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde their preference for a defender.

As for Liverpool, Manuel Locatelli, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Barella are targets with Jordan Henderson’s future unclear, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed a new four-year deal at Anfield.

Saul to Man Utd or Liverpool?

As we said earlier, Saul Niguez’s agents are reportedly heading to the UK to attempt to seal a transfer – but where will he end up?

Manchester United have been linked with the Atletico Madrid midfielder for two years now, and he could be an option if the Red Devils end up selling Paul Pogba to PSG.

Liverpool are also said to be interested as well though: with Gini Wijnaldum leaving for PSG on a free and Jordan Henderson’s future unclear, Jurgen Klopp could be on the lookout for a top-quality midfielder.

The reported presence of Saul’s representatives in the UK suggests they expect this saga to run and run as both clubs plan for the new season.

‘Spurs can match Kane’s ambition’

Ledley King believes Spurs can match Harry Kane’s ambition as the striker’s future remains in the balance.

King was not drawn on Kane’s future amid Man City’s interest, but insists Spurs are ambitious.

“We know he is one of the best strikers in the world. Harry is ambitious and I know the club is very ambitious,” he told PA.

“That is as far as it goes, I wouldn’t like to say what is going to happen next, all I know is the club is very ambitious and Harry is himself, so that’s it.”

Villa to accept £100m City offer for Grealish

Man City are clearly big fans of Jack Grealish – so much so that they could be about to pay a nine-figure sum for the Aston Villa captain.

Villa have set an asking price of £100m this summer, but that has not deterred the Premier League champions – and Sky Sports reports that Grealish’s club are set to accept a huge bid from City.

The £100m offer was reportedly made on Friday, and Sky says that while Villa have yet to respond to City, they are likely to accept it to make Grealish the most expensive transfer in British football history.

Losing Grealish would be a huge blow for Villa, but they are set to sign Leon Bailey and will have serious funds to reinvest in their squad at a time when rivals are struggling financially, so they could arguably head into the new season with a stronger squad overall.

Haaland advantage for Man Utd?

Erling Haaland may be on the move this summer, but it would take a truly astonishing bid from Chelsea – likely in the £150m range – for Dortmund to sell their star man, especially after raking in £73m for Jadon Sancho.

It is far more likely that Haaland will be on his way in summer 2022 when his £65m release clause kicks in, and the Star reports that a new deal for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could prove decisive.

Solskjaer has signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, and boasts a fine working relationship with Haaland having coached him at Molde. United are said to be confident that in next summer’s bidding war, Solskjaer’s position of strength could give them the edge over their rivals.

Arsenal face £34m price tag for Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal will have to pay £34m if they want to sign Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

That is according to Brazilian outlet

It is said that the Gunners were hoping to spend around £25m on the highly-rated 23-year-old, who is currently with Brazil at the Olympic Games.

Brazil beat Egypt 1-0 in Japan earlier on Saturday courtesy of Matheus Cunha’s goal and face Mexico in the semi-finals.

Liverpool target Bowen misses West Ham win

There was no Jarrod Bowen in the West Ham squad today as David Moyes’ side beat newly-promoted London rivals Brentford 1-0 in a friendly thanks to Said Benrahma’s excellent goal against his old club.

The absence of the former Hull star comes in the wake of reports suggesting he is being lined up for a move to Liverpool.

However, West Ham have since confirmed that Bowen missed out due to a minor injury issue.

Saul Niguez agents in England

Saul Niguez’s next move looks likely to be decided at some point soon.

According to The Mirror, representatives of the Atletico Madrid and Spain midfielder have flown into England in an attempt to resolve their client’s future.

Just about every major club in the Premier League has been linked with Saul at some point over recent months, but particularly Manchester United and Liverpool.

Lautaro Martinez to Arsenal update

Arsenal have indeed lodged inquiries with Inter Milan over Lautaro Martinez.

Reports that the Gunners were making an ambitious attempt to sign the Argentine forward first emerged last week.

Now The Athletic say Arsenal have asked about Lautaro during conversations with reigning Serie A champions Inter as the latter try to strike a deal for right-back Hector Bellerin.

Crucially, it is said that Lautaro would be open to joining Arsenal, while Tottenham are mentioned as potential rival suitors for the 23-year-old if Harry Kane does leave this summer.

Aston Villa agree Leon Bailey deal

Big news from Aston Villa!

The Premier League outfit say they have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Leon Bailey.

No fee has been disclosed, though the deal is thought to be worth around £30m.

The transfer is subject to a medical and Jamaica forward Bailey – previously linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs – agreeing personal terms.

Quite a signing for Villa, that.

Martin on the move?

Some news of a possible move – but for a manager – as MK Dons have expressed their “extreme disappointment” at the timing of Swansea’s approach to speak with manager Russell Martin.

The League One club start their domestic campaign today at Bournemouth in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

But managerless Swansea are eager to lure Martin to the Liberty Stadium.

“MK Dons can confirm that an official approach has been made by Swansea City to speak to Russell Martin regarding their vacant managerial position,” an official club statement read on Saturday.

“To our extreme disappointment, this was received less than 24 hours prior to our first competitive fixture of the season. To minimise disruption to our players and our match preparation, it was decided that this would be discussed after today’s game.”
