Transfer Talk! Varane wants Man Utd move THIS WEEK; Locatelli, Gollini

The summer window is starting to hot up as clubs step up their efforts to sign and sell players.

The biggest splash of the window so far has seen Manchester United finally land long-time target Jadon Sancho in a deal worth £73million. The transfer is expected to be finalised this week with a medical completed. Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga are also priority targets, while Barcelona and PSG are eyeing Paul Pogba.

Chelsea also want to sign a superstar from Dortmund and are reportedly ready to bid £150m for Erling Haaland, looking to beat the fierce competition for a striker who is available for half that price next summer, but could turn to Robert Lewandowski as frustrations grow.

Tottenham’s transfer activity has stepped up a gear now Nuno Espirito Santo has been confirmed as their new manager. Danny Ings remains their priority signing with the club determined to keep Harry Kane. In defence, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jules Kounde are reported targets, with Lyon’s Houssem Aouar also of interest as Spurs close in on Atalanta duo Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini as well as a swap deal involving Sevilla’s Bryan Gil and Erik Lamela.

Manchester City are once again ready to splash the cash as they target huge deals for both Kane and Jack Grealish, though managing to prise the pair away from Tottenham and Aston Villa will prove difficult. Villa are confident of Grealish agreeing a new contract, while Spurs have repeatedly ruled out selling their prized asset.

Liverpool have been linked with Saul Niguez, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Barella as well as a potential deal for Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches as they look to replace Gini Wijnaldum, while big doubts have emerged over the future of captain Jordan Henderson.

Varane wants Man United move in coming days

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane reportedly wants his proposed move to Manchester United to be completed within the next few days.

Pogba’s France colleague has been earmarked as Harry Maguire’s new centre-back partner at Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to upgrade his defensive options for the 2021/22 campaign.

Per AS, Varane is eager not to have to begin pre-season with two different clubs this summer and is therefore looking for United and Madrid to end their apparent stalemate over an acceptable transfer fee post-haste.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the Spanish capital next summer and has refused to sign an extension.

Chelsea ponder Bettinelli deal

Chelsea are eyeing a move for ex-Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, the Daily Telegraph report.

The Blues are looking for third-choice cover between the posts to provide support for Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga after veteran Argentine Willy Caballero was released following the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Bettinelli – who finished last season on loan in the Championship at Middlesbrough – is a free agent after leaving relegated Fulham in June and has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal in recent days.

Crystal Palace eye Ozan Kabak deal

Crystal Palace’s overdue rebuild under new boss Patrick Vieira is already taking shape following the impressive signings of young duo Michael Olise and Marc Guehi and goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

Now, according to The Guardian, they are also eager to sign former Liverpool loanee Ozan Kabak.

Ed Aarons reports that Palace, Leicester and clubs from both Germany and Spain are all interested in the Turkish international centre-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Anfield, making 13 appearances under Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool did not take up their £18m option to turn Kabak’s loan into a permanent deal at the end of the campaign, but he is still expected to leave relegated Schalke, who are reportedly set to demand a lower fee of around £12m.

Townsend joins Everton on two-year deal

Everton have now officially confirmed the signing of Andros Townsend.

The winger has penned a two-year deal at Goodison Park after leaving Crystal Palace following the expiration of his contract last month.

“Everton is a massive football club and has big ambitions next season. As the old cliché goes, it was a no-brainer.

“But more importantly, he’s a great man, a great man-manager, and he’s always talking to you. I’m sure he will be very successful here.”
