Adama Traore has been told to follow Cristiano Ronaldo’s trajectory and leave his manager no option but to play him.
With six goals and 12 assists in all competitions, the 24-year-old earned his maiden Spain call-up as well as plaudits across the country.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had been linked with a £63million bid for the flying winger, after he sang his praises during the season.
Following the Reds’ narrow 2-1 win at Molineux in January, Klopp said: “Traore now, at the moment I would say he is, pretty much, unplayable. I’ve said it now a couple of times and it is still true.
“He is now not only a winger anymore, he keeps the ball, holds the ball and sets up goals, obviously.
“That makes it so difficult, each ball you lose is 100% a counter attack and half a goal.”
However, at the start of this season, Traore has no goal involvements in Wolves’ first 12 Premier League games and was dropped to the bench for their clash with Chelsea.
Joe Cole has told his former Aston Villa teammate that he shouldn’t be “sitting on the bench at his age” and urged him to follow the path that saw Ronaldo become one of the best players in the world.
“On his day, he’s one of the best to watch in the league with his pace, his power, his intelligent movement,” Cole told BT Sport. “I just look at a player like that, with his attributes, why is he not doing it consistently, week in week out in the Premier League?
“He shouldn’t even be in the manager’s thoughts to be left out. He gives managers opportunities with his concentration, he has so many games where he is just on the periphery like he was against Liverpool.
“He gives the manager an opportunity to leave him out. He’s got so many physical attributes, he should be like in a similar way to a young Cristiano Ronaldo when he realised how strong and fast and how much ability he had. And he started to punish teams.
“Adama Traore needs to be high up the pitch, paying in the final third, punishing teams more. He shouldn’t be sitting on the bench at his age for Wolves, that’s for sure.”
