Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift at US Open final with stars on NFL season Week 1

It’s the opening weekend of the new NFL season, but Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are enjoying the tennis instead.

The power couple are in attendance at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York to watch the US Open men’s final, where world no.1 Jannik Sinner is taking on American Taylor Fritz.

Kelce and Swift are not the only celebrities with the hottest ticket in town with Oscar winning actors Matthew McConaughey, Dustin Hoffman and Eddie Redmayne also watching on.

Kelce’s Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, and his wife Brittany, were also seen joining the couple in the same area.

Legendary musician Jon Bon Jovi has also been photographed at the event with tennis legend Billie-Jean King also there.

Andy Roddick, the last American man to win a men’s singles title at the US Open, was also there alongside two-time women’s singles champion Tracy Austin too.

Kelce’s attendance at Flushing Meadows may be considered a surprise given the fact the NFL season is underway.

However, his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, are not in action on Sunday having begun their quest for an unprecedented Super Bowl ‘three-peat’ on Friday night.

Kelce and co got off to a winning start with a 27-20 triumph over the Baltimore Ravens, a match that Swift attended.

Numerous stars attended the women’s final on Saturday night, including Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton and Olympic gold medallist Noah Lyles, which saw Aryna Sabalenka get the better of American Jessica Pegula.

Fritz is making his first appearance in a Grand Slam final and will have his work cut out against his Italian opponent, who won his first Slam of his career in Australia back in January.

The first set was won by Sinner, claiming it 6-3.

Fritz is being backed by some to achieve glory on home turf by some though, including from rapper Drake, who’s placed a $210,000 (approximately £160,000) on the 26-year-old to win.

When it came to preparing for the final, the American certainly did not appear to be fazed by the odds whatsoever.

Speaking after his semi-final victory over Francis Tiafoe, he said: “I’m in the final so I’m going to come out and give everything I possibly have and I know that for a fact.”

He added: “I’ve always enjoyed playing (Sinner).

“To be honest, I don’t think that I’m gonna be put in a more, like, stressful situation than I was today than playing in a final. I think today was much more stressful than me playing the final. I just feel good.”

Fritz even went so far as to predict a very good result indeed for himself.

“I have a feeling I’m going to come out and play really well and win,” he said. “When I play good tennis, I think that level is good enough to win.”

And Drake will certainly be hoping that the American can put his money where his mouth is, for both their sakes.
