Alexander-Arnold had previously fallen out of favour with England boss Gareth Southgate, missing the cut for the Three Lions’ most recent international break in March following a difficult season with Liverpool.
That omission appeared to put his chances of a Euros call-up in serious doubt, especially given Southgate is blesses with a wealth of talent at right-back – but he returned to form during the run-in as Liverpool qualified for the Champions League.
Alexander-Arnold was named in Southgate’s expanded provisional 33-man squad last week, but with Kyle Walker, Reece James and Kieran Trippier also making the cut, it was thought the Liverpool full-back could still miss out.
Following the squad announcement on Tuesday afternoon, Alexander-Arnold took to Twitter to celebrate.
The 22-year-old tweeted an image of himself in an England shirt with the message: “Always believe in yourself. Silence the doubters.”
