Tyson Fury has insisted all six of his children will one day follow in his footsteps.

Fury arrived in America ahead of his bout with Deontay Wilder promptly after wife Paris gave birth to the couple’s new daughter, Athena, who only returned home after spending more than a week in hospital.

Much of that period was spent in ICU at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, and afterwards both parents were full of praise for hospital staff who Tyson’s father John said worked at the “best children’s hospital in the country.”

And now, speaking to the media ahead of his trilogy fight with Wilder in Vegas, Fury, 33, said Athena and her five elder siblings would all be donning boxing gloves when older.

“They’re all going to box because even if they’re not going to be boxers, it teaches them respect for life,” he said.

The couple have three sons, all named Prince, and along with Athena, two other daughters called Venezuela and Valencia.

His comments come after Paris herself spoke about the difficulties of being a “boxing wife.”

Paris will be in America to support her husband alongside his brother Tommy, but the 31-year-old wrote on social media: “We’re here in Las Vegas and we’re starting to get ready for Tyson’s big fight with Deontay Wilder on Saturday.

“The lead up to a big fight is always a pretty nerve-wracking time but it’s a big moment and I’d always rather be sitting ringside and watching with the family rather than watching at home on TV.

“I know coming out to Vegas sounds incredibly glamorous but being a “boxing wife” on match day is a weird mix of being surrounded by a huge buzz and feeling totally sick – it’s so hard to watch your husband go through it – but I know being in the ring is what Tyson loves.”

A number of friends responded to the post with words of encouragement, including Tommy’s girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague who said: “Supporting all the way… wish I was there! Love to you Paris.”

Amir Khan’s wife Faryal added: “Good luck babe.”

Due to travel restrictions, Fury’s support will be inferior compared to his previous two bouts in America with Wilder, 35.

The pair boxed to a controversial draw in December 2018 before ‘The Gypsy King’ secured a convincing stoppage win 14 months later.
