UFC star Jon Jones has been “arrested over domestic violence and vehicle tampering.”

Reports claim the combat legend was picked by police on Friday morning at 5.45 am at a resort near Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.

The 34-year-old is being charged with misdemeanour battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle.

It is suggested he is being held at Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $8,000 (£5,850).

Clark County inmate records show that Jones was in custody and is reported to make his first court appearance Saturday.

This is not the first time Jones has been in trouble with the law, as he was arrested on drink-driving and firearm charges last year.

The light-heavyweight champion was apprehended in Alberquerque, New Mexico, following an incident where officers allegedly found Jones drunk and at the wheel of a Jeep.

TMZ Sports claim that police were called after reported gunshots and they found him “inside the vehicle with the engine running and the car in park”.

A “half-empty bottle of tequila” was also found behind the passenger seat.

Bloody Elbow reported the charges against Jones were one count of aggravated DWI (driving while intoxicated), one count of negligent use of a firearm, one count of possession of an open container, and one count driving with no proof of insurance.

Jones, who was previously arrested for DUI back in 2012, when he crashed his Bentley in the early hours of the morning, has denied firing a gun that was found during the officers’ subsequent search of the vehicle.

Jones’ arrest came hours after he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Before the induction, he spoke to the media about how he is feeling while training to become a Heavyweight fighter.

“Right now, for the first time in my whole career, I’m actually training consistently,” Jones said. “… I feel in better shape now than I ever did before. I’m sleeping better, eating better, drinking less – alcohol – and I feel really good.”

Jones’ last fight came in February 2020 when he defeated Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 to retain his light heavyweight title.

That was a historic win for the Hall of Famer as he set a UFC record for the most title fight wins.

The Mirror has contacted Jones’ reps for comment.
