Vlasic urges West Ham squad to show Champions League credentials

A run of four straight Premier League wins before the international break put the Hammers in the hunt for the top four before David Moyes’s side were given a reality check on Saturday.

Moyes’s men next face Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday and then Manchester City back in the Premier League on Sunday.

Vlasic, whose side are in fourth spot, said: “Of course, this is 12 games into the season and there are a lot more [games]. We just need to bounce back.

“We weren’t on our level like we’re used to, so we need to bounce back next game and continue where we left off before Wolves. We move on.

“We have a small squad but a very good squad and we’re playing on three fronts. It is hard but we continue to work hard.”

West Ham looked blunt in attack, with Michail Antonio unable to transfer his international form back to the Premier League after scoring two goals in as many games for Jamaica this month.

Moyes believes the forward needs to sharpen. “He needs to get himself into good condition because he thrives when he is in top condition,” said the Scot.
